At Evri, we're continuing to evolve how technology enables our business. As we strengthen our engineering capabilities, modernise our delivery practices, and accelerate our technology strategy, we're looking for an exceptional leader to take ownership of our Engineering & Assurance function.
This is a critical leadership role reporting directly to the CIO, responsible for defining the strategy, standards and operating model that underpin how software is designed, built, tested and delivered across the organisation.
You'll lead a high-performing team of Engineering and Assurance leaders, driving improvements across Agile delivery, DevOps, quality engineering, automation and software reliability, whilst ensuring our technology investments deliver measurable business value.

What you'll be doing
As Head of Engineering & Assurance, you'll define and execute the engineering strategy that enables our product and technology teams to deliver high-quality software reliably, securely and at pace.
You'll provide leadership across Engineering and Assurance, ensuring teams have the standards, capabilities, governance and tooling required to support our technology ambitions.
Working closely with senior stakeholders across Technology and the wider business, you'll drive continuous improvement across the software delivery lifecycle whilst balancing quality, speed, cost and customer value.
You'll act as a strategic leader, coach and change agent, influencing at all levels of the organisation and shaping the future of engineering at Evri.
Key responsibilities
- Define and execute the Engineering & Assurance strategy aligned to enterprise objectives
- Lead and develop Engineering and Assurance Principal and Functional Leads
- Establish and embed engineering standards, best practices and governance frameworks
- Drive improvements across software development, testing, automation, DevOps and release management
- Lead engineering resource planning aligned to portfolio and product roadmap demands
- Partner with Product, Architecture, Service and Transformation leadership to improve end-to-end delivery effectiveness
- Drive adoption of Agile and Lean principles across engineering teams
- Improve engineering performance, quality metrics and operational efficiency
- Manage strategic delivery partners, suppliers and offshore engineering relationships
- Own Engineering & Assurance budgets, ensuring effective investment and value delivery
- Provide executive oversight of engineering performance, quality and delivery metrics
- Champion organisational change and continuous improvement across Technology
- Build the engineering capabilities required to support future business growth and innovation
What you'll bring
- Significant experience leading Engineering, Software Delivery or Technology functions at scale
- Proven success defining and implementing engineering strategies within complex organisations
- Strong experience leading large engineering teams and developing senior technology leaders
- Deep understanding of modern software development practices, DevOps, Agile delivery and Quality Engineering
- Experience driving engineering transformation, organisational change and operating model improvement
- Strong commercial acumen with experience managing budgets and third-party delivery partners
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience engaging Executive and senior leadership teams
- Ability to balance strategic leadership with operational delivery outcomes
- Strong coaching, mentoring and leadership capability
- Passion for building high-performing, inclusive and customer-focused engineering organisations
