Inside the Role

Product Validation Engineering (PVE) at Daimler Trucks North America is responsible for component- and system-level validation that helps ensure our products remain industry leaders in reliability while supporting the lowest Total Cost of Ownership for our customers. This position is part of the newly formed Data Acquisition and Technology Applications (DATA) team, which enables efficient access, management, and visualization of vehicle test data. The team provides the infrastructure, tools, and support needed to make test data accessible, reliable, and actionable for PVE, Design Engineering, IT, Powertrain, global teams, and other internal and external customers. In this role, you will collaborate across these organizations to develop and support data-focused processes, applications, and use cases. This role will specifically focus on executing a Development Operations (DevOps) strategy that supports quality software deployments, application health, and overall system performance. The position promotes communication, integration, and collaboration between development, quality assurance, and IT operations teams to improve software delivery and productivity. It also supports the development of infrastructure, adoption of technology best practices, and continuous improvement of operational performance. Success in this role requires broad technical knowledge and experience across infrastructure, software development, operations, and quality assurance.

What You Drive at DTNA

  • Develop, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment workflows while increasing release reliability and deployment consistency.
  • Execute the DevOps strategy for PVE data applications, with a focus on software quality, application health, system performance, and operational stability.
  • Manage and support cloud, container-based, and application operating environments that enable reliable access to vehicle validation data.
  • Strengthen application observability, monitoring, access controls, and operational performance across the vehicle validation lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain full-stack solutions that support PVE validation requirements, data accessibility, and engineering efficiency.
  • Collaborate with PVE, Design Engineering, IT, Powertrain, TT/S, and global test engineering teams to gather requirements and translate business needs into scalable application features.
  • Promote communication, integration, and collaboration between development, quality assurance, IT operations, and business stakeholders to improve software delivery outcomes.
  • Work within an Agile framework to rapidly develop, test, deploy, and iterate on solutions that support department priorities.
  • Create and maintain documentation for requirements, technical designs, operational processes, and implemented solutions.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities that reduce cost, improve efficiency, and enhance data collection, processing, and visualization capabilities.
  • Align with key stakeholders on project priorities, risks, timelines, and support needs to ensure successful delivery of data and application initiatives.
  • Mentor new employees and interns by sharing technical knowledge, development practices, and operational standards.
  • Develop and maintain visualizations, dashboards, and KPIs that support PVE Data team objectives and decision-making.

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • Master's degree with 4+ years of experience, or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience, or 8 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Broad technical knowledge across infrastructure, application development, operations, and quality assurance in support of reliable software delivery.
  • Experience developing front-end applications using JavaScript and a common framework such as Vue, React, Svelte, or a similar technology.
  • Experience developing backend services and APIs using Python and frameworks such as Django, Flask, FastAPI, or similar technologies.
  • Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or similar platforms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to consult with customers, analyze requirements, and translate business needs into practical technical solutions.

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

  • Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Experience with containerization and container orchestration tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, CaaS, or similar platforms.
  • Experience developing user interfaces with Vuetify or similar UI component frameworks.
  • Experience working with vehicle CAN networks, vehicle validation data, or connected vehicle data systems.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and practices, including Jenkins, Git, Artifactory, Gradle, or similar technologies.
  • Working knowledge of DevOps principles, Agile methodologies, and software delivery best practices.
