Engineering Manager

Lead the engineering behind complex gas and marine projects

Are you an experienced engineer who enjoys bringing different technical disciplines together and turning complex requirements into practical solutions?

Nord Gas Solutions is looking for a Engineering Manager to take technical leadership of our projects from engineering and procurement through testing, commissioning and start-up. This is a role for someone who understands engineering in depth, but who also enjoys leading people, coordinating disciplines, working with customers and suppliers, and making sure the complete technical solution comes together. You will work across disciplines such as process, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, automation, structural engineering and 3D design. In short, you will be one of the people making sure our projects work, technically, commercially and safely.

What will you be doing?As Project Engineering Manager, you will lead and coordinate the engineering activities within assigned projects and work closely with the Project Manager and our discipline engineers.   Your responsibilities will include:

• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout project execution.
• Plan, follow up and control engineering activities related to design, procurement and project delivery.
• Ensure technical solutions comply with contractual requirements, specifications, applicable standards and project quality requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and support to project and discipline engineers.
• Coordinate engineering interfaces across process, mechanical, piping, structural, electrical, instrumentation, automation and other disciplines.
• Ensure Safety in Design principles are integrated into the engineering process.
• Review and ensure quality of engineering documentation, purchase requisitions and supplier documentation.
• Monitor engineering progress and initiate corrective actions when required.
• Develop and follow up project Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
• Coordinate third-party verification and technical compliance activities.
• Act as a key technical point of contact towards customers.
• Maintain effective technical communication with suppliers and external partners.
• Support testing, commissioning, start-up and gas trials.
• Take responsibility for yard management when applicable.
• Identify competence needs and contribute to the development of our engineering organisation.

More than technical coordination For us, successful project engineering is not just about documentation and calculations. It is about creating a team that works well together. Together with the Project Manager, you will help build a strong project team, establish clear technical priorities and create effective communication between disciplines. You will also provide feedback on the development of project engineers and contribute to strengthening engineering competence across the organisation.   Who are we looking for? We are looking for someone with solid multidisciplinary engineering experience who is comfortable seeing both the details and the bigger technical picture.

You will ideally bring experience from several of the following areas:

• Multidisciplinary engineering within marine, offshore, energy, gas or complex process systems.
• Engineering disciplines such as process, piping, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, automation, structural engineering and 3D layout.
• Ships, shipyards, offshore installations or onshore process facilities.
• Engineering studies, detailed engineering and procurement.
• Testing, commissioning, start-up and gas trials.
• Technical coordination with customers, suppliers and third-party organisations.
• Project planning and engineering management.
• Previous experience as a Engineering Manager, discipline lead, lead engineer, project engineer or similar technical leadership role.
• Good understanding of engineering quality and technical safety.
• Understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer and cryogenic processes is highly relevant.

Project management training or previous experience leading engineering activities in projects will be an advantage.   The person behind the engineer Technical knowledge is important, but so is how you work with others.
