Contract WordPress Developer Ongoing | Approximately 50 hours per month

Gemini Agency is looking for an experienced contract WordPress developer with marketing agency experience to build, improve, and maintain client websites. Our sites range from custom builds to templated websites, developed by different people using different approaches. We need someone who can confidently step into any of them—from well-built sites to those needing significant troubleshooting, and determine the best path forward.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and enhance custom and templated WordPress websites.
  • Maintain sites across different themes, page builders, plugins, and codebases.
  • Troubleshoot functionality, layout, mobile responsiveness, site speed, and plugin conflicts.
  • Improve unstable or poorly built sites and recognize when a larger rebuild is warranted.
  • Handle ongoing development requests and thoroughly test changes before they go live.
  • Complete monthly hosting-related maintenance, backup checks, and WordPress, theme, and plugin updates.

What You Bring

  • Previous experience supporting digital marketing agencies is required.
  • Deep WordPress expertise, including PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and database troubleshooting.
  • Experience with custom themes, the WordPress block editor, and common page builders. Blocksy experience is a plus.
  • A proven ability to repair and maintain websites you didn’t originally build.
  • Experience managing requests across multiple client websites and working with account and project managers.
  • Clear communication about availability, estimates, timelines, and potential issues.
  • Reliable follow-through and careful attention to detail.
  • A huge plus: Understanding how website functionality and user experience support conversions, along with experience implementing and troubleshooting GA4, Google Tag Manager, form submission tracking, and call tracking.

Monthly Commitment

  • 4–7 hours for hosting-related maintenance and monthly updates.
  • Approximately 45 hours for development maintenance, troubleshooting, and client requests.
