As a Business Development Analyst, you will research market trends, identify new growth opportunities and optimize current freight lanes to support PGT's overall sales strategy. You will create clear and actionable insights for executive management based on your data analysis, helping to drive profitable growth for our business. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of sales principles, prior transportation industry experience and a strong desire to enhance our processes through a data-driven sales strategy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze freight, customer, lane, and market data to identify revenue growth opportunities, pricing trends, and areas for improved profitability.
- Research and evaluate trucking industry trends, customer needs, competitor activity, carrier capacity, and economic factors that may impact business development strategies.
- Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and performance summaries that track sales activity, customer growth, lane performance, freight volumes, and key business development metrics.
- Monitor customer and carrier performance trends to identify service gaps, operational risks, and opportunities to improve retention, revenue, and service quality.
- Conduct profitability and cost analyses for customers, lanes, and freight opportunities, including rate comparisons, margin projections, and volume trends.
- Assist with Request for Offer (RFO), request-for-proposal, and bid activity by organizing shipment data, reviewing lane information, supporting pricing inputs, analyzing customer freight requirements, and preparing response materials.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure proposed business opportunities align with company capabilities, safety standards, compliance expectations, and operational capacity.
- Translate data findings into clear insights and recommendations for management regarding customer growth, market positioning, pricing strategy, process improvement, and profitable growth.
- Perform other related duties as required by business needs or assigned by management.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Must have transportation experience to be considered.
- Must be a hunter who strives to close new business.
- Must be able to work with little to no supervision.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
