Job Summary
We are looking for a Senior Oracle Database Administrator to own the 246-table, 900+ GB Oracle 19c database supporting a federal government IT program for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Walla Walla District. You will be responsible for database administration, performance tuning, and secure query support underlying the program's suite of web application modules, and will support the program's broader RMF compliance and cloud migration objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and administer the 246-table, 4,080-field Oracle 19c database (900+ GB, 2.5 TB allocated) underlying the application portfolio
- Perform database performance tuning, capacity planning, and troubleshooting
- Design, write, and optimize complex SQL queries in support of application and reporting needs
- Support Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) requirements for modern reporting tools
- Coordinate with CIO/G6 on-premises database administration duties and support eventual migration to the CWBI Cloud environment
- Support implementation of secure coding and STIG-compliant practices within database code and access controls
- Support the CWBI Data Strategy's Data Checklist requirements, including data categorization, metadata standards, and dataset registration in the USACE CW Data Catalog
- Support data flow documentation for the RMF authorization boundary and assist with continuous monitoring/vulnerability scan remediation related to the database layer
- Participate in two-week Agile sprint cycles and contribute to release planning and demonstrations
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Minimum active Tier 1 (or higher) federal background investigation, favorably adjudicated, prior to start
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience administering Oracle databases in production environments
- Expert knowledge of Oracle systems principles, administration, and performance tuning
- Proficiency in programming, scripting, and creating complex queries
- Experience building, administering, and supporting databases for web-enabled applications
- Knowledge of ODBC requirements for modern reporting
- Working knowledge of Agile/DevSecOps methodologies
Preferred Qualifications
- Oracle certification (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional)
- Experience with cloud database migration, preferably within AWS GovCloud
- Federal government or DoD database administration background
- Familiarity with DoD STIGs as applied to database systems
Certifications
- Active Tier 1+ background investigation prior to start
- CompTIA Security+ or DoD 8140-approved equivalent required within six (6) months of contract start
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) desired
