Job Description
Our client is a European insurtech company providing digital insurance solutions and embedded protection products, enabling seamless integration of insurance offerings into e-commerce and financial platforms across multiple markets.
Responsibilities  
- Design and build high-performance services: Develop and maintain scalable APIs (gRPC and REST) powering core insurance services.
- Own end-to-end delivery: Drive microservices from requirements gathering, architecture, and implementation through deployment and operational support.
- Collaborate cross-functionally: Work with Product, DevOps, and other teams to translate feature requests into robust, scalable technical solutions.
- Champion engineering excellence: Establish and promote best practices including code reviews, automated testing, observability (tracing, logging, metrics), and CI/CD pipelines.
- Ensure compliance and security: Adhere to security policies, coding standards, and regulatory requirements relevant to the financial and insurance sector.
- Optimize for production: Monitor and improve service reliability, performance, and cost in production environments.
Qualifications
Must Have
- 6+ years of backend development experience, with 3+ years working with Golang in production
- Proven track record designing and evolving gRPC and REST-based APIs at scale
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, microservices architectures, and cloud-native patterns
- Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and modern DevOps workflows
- Experience with PostgreSQL and message queues (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ)
- Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for building clean, efficient, and maintainable systems
- Regular use of AI tools to improve productivity, automate or reduce repetitive work, support decision-making, and deliver higher-quality outcomes.
- Ability to use AI tools responsibly by structuring effective prompts, critically validating outputs, understanding limitations, and taking ownership of the final result.
- Excellent English communication skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment
- Regular use of AI tools to improve productivity, automate or reduce repetitive work, support decision-making, and deliver higher-quality outcomes.
- Ability to use AI tools responsibly by structuring effective prompts, critically validating outputs, understanding limitations, and taking ownership of the final result.
Nice to Have
- Experience in the insurance, fintech, or broader financial services domain
- Familiarity with observability tooling (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Jaeger)
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Knowledge of infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Helm)
- German language skills are a plus
