Experience: 5–10 Years Industry: Consumer Internet / Technology / E-Commerce Language: Mandarin & English (Mandatory)
Overview: Our client is a rapidly scaling consumer internet platform, connecting hundreds of millions of users daily across content, community, discovery, and commerce. As the company expands internationally, data is increasingly central to understanding user behaviour, product performance, and commercial impact, shaping both product and business strategy.
Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist – Product & Business Analytics to join the Singapore team. This is a highly business-facing analytics role at the intersection of Data Analytics, Product Analytics, Decision Science, and Business Strategy. You will collaborate closely with Product and Business teams across community, commercialization, and e-commerce, using rigorous quantitative analysis to answer complex business questions and directly influence product and strategic decisions.
Key Responsibilities: - Lead complex data analysis to support product, commercial, and strategic decision-making. - Develop a deep understanding of the company’s community, commercialization, and e-commerce businesses. - Analyse user behaviour, product performance, and business trends to uncover growth opportunities and diagnose complex problems. - Move beyond explaining what happened to understanding why it happened and what the business should do next. - Establish rigorous measurement, quantification, and attribution frameworks to understand the true impact of product and business initiatives. - Design analytical approaches to identify the underlying drivers behind changes in key product and business metrics. - Translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable recommendations for Product and Business stakeholders. - Build and evolve business data systems, metrics, and analytical frameworks that improve how data is used across the organisation. - Develop scalable analytical capabilities, rather than relying solely on one-off analysis. - Combine internal platform data with industry data, market perspectives, and external trends to generate strategic-level insights. - Partner closely with Product, Business, and other cross-functional stakeholders to influence both short-term execution and longer-term business direction. - Leverage modern AI tools to build and improve end-to-end analytical workflows.
Requirements: - 5–10 years of experience across Data Analytics, Product Analytics, Data Science, Business Analytics, Decision Science, or another closely related quantitative discipline. - Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or another quantitative discipline. - Strong experience working within consumer internet, technology, or other data-intensive product environments. - Strong commercial and product instincts, with the ability to understand the business context behind the numbers. - Excellent quantitative, statistical, and analytical foundations. - Experience applying rigorous approaches to measurement, attribution, and impact analysis. - Ability to translate ambiguous product or business questions into structured analytical problems. - Strong experience identifying the underlying drivers behind changes in user, product, or commercial performance. - Experience building metrics, analytical frameworks, or reusable business data capabilities. - Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence Product, Business, and senior cross-functional stakeholders. - Ability to communicate complex analytical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. - Comfortable operating with significant ownership within a fast-moving consumer technology environment. - Experience using modern AI tools to improve analytical productivity and workflows.
Particularly Relevant Experience: - Experience analysing large-scale consumer products across one or more of the following areas: - Social / Community - Content - E-Commerce - Advertising - Commercialization / Monetization - Marketplace - Growth - Consumer Product Analytics - Candidates who have used rigorous analytical methodologies to influence product strategy, experimentation, growth, monetization, or commercial decision-making will be particularly relevant.
Role Clarification: - This is not primarily an ML engineering or model-development role. - The focus is on using data, statistical thinking, and rigorous analytical methodologies to understand users, products, and businesses, establish scientific measurement capabilities, and influence real-world decision-making. - This is not a traditional reporting or dashboarding position. - The ideal candidate is capable of moving through the full analytical journey: What happened? → Why did it happen? → How do we rigorously measure the impact? → What should the business do next?
Language Requirement: - Fluent Mandarin Chinese and English are mandatory for this position. - The successful candidate must be comfortable conducting complex analytical and business discussions in Mandarin with Product and Business stakeholders based in China, while operating professionally in English within an international organisation.
Why Join? - Work with data generated by one of the world’s largest consumer internet platforms. - Solve complex analytical and measurement problems across community, commercialization, and e-commerce. - Work directly with Product and Business teams and influence meaningful product and strategic decisions. - Build analytical frameworks and measurement capabilities that can be applied across the wider organisation. - Gain exposure to the intersection of consumer behaviour, content, commerce, growth, and monetization. - Apply emerging AI capabilities to create increasingly intelligent and efficient analytical workflows. - Join the organisation at an important stage of its continued international expansion.
