We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee heavy civil and utility infrastructure projects from preconstruction through final closeout. This role is responsible for delivering complex infrastructure projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards while leading project teams, coordinating field operations, managing subcontractors, and maintaining strong client relationships.
The ideal candidate has experience working for a heavy civil general contractor or mechanical contractor, with a proven track record managing projects involving water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, utility infrastructure, and municipal construction. Responsibilities
- Manage heavy civil and utility infrastructure projects from preconstruction through final completion and closeout.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, procurement plans, cost forecasts, and project execution strategies.
- Monitor project financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, labor productivity, billing, cost control, and profitability.
- Coordinate Superintendents, field personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, engineers, and project stakeholders throughout all phases of construction.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and project documentation to ensure successful project execution.
- Oversee RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement activities, contract administration, and project documentation.
- Lead project meetings while maintaining clear communication with owners, engineers, inspectors, consultants, and company leadership.
- Identify project risks early and implement proactive solutions to minimize schedule delays and budget impacts.
- Support field operations by ensuring crews have the equipment, materials, and resources needed to achieve production goals.
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements, safety regulations, quality standards, and company procedures.
- Oversee commissioning support, punch-list completion, project turnover, and final closeout documentation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, municipalities, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and project partners.
- 3+ years of Project Management experience in heavy civil or mechanical construction.
- Experience working for a heavy civil general contractor or mechanical contractor is required.
- Proven experience managing projects from startup through closeout.
- Experience with water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, utility infrastructure, industrial facilities, or similar heavy civil projects is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of heavy civil construction methods, scheduling, contract administration, procurement, and field operations.
- Proficiency in budgeting, forecasting, labor management, cost control, billing, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and project schedules.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects while coordinating office and field teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Must reside within approximately one hour of Nashville, Tennessee.
- Candidates whose experience is primarily residential or light commercial construction will not be considered.
- Competitive salary of $90,000–$120,000, with flexibility for highly qualified candidates.
