We are seeking a DevOps Engineer to support our enterprise-scale platform as a service (PaaS). This role is responsible for ensuring dependable daily operation, providing direct customer/tenant support (up to and including Tier 3), evolving & improving platform components, meeting security requirements, and deploying scalable solutions that balance performance and cost within our 6+ multitenant clusters.
Active Top Secret security clearance required. The ideal candidate will have a BS degree in Information Technology or related field with 3-5 years of experience in Kubernetes platforms, container orchestration, and cloud-based platform deployments, particularly in C2S, GovCloud, or similar isolated environments. This position will be performed on site at a customer location in St. Louis, MO. We are actively considering candidates with a planned October 2026 start date.
What You'll Need to Succeed:
- Communicate effectively in both written and verbal form with peers & decision makers
- Excel in juggling deliverables across multiple efforts in parallel within an Agile framework
- Demonstrate expertise in software delivery to DoD public cloud regions (C2S / GovCloud) and Kubernetes platforms
- The ability to replace operational tasks with automated workflows, GitOps pipelines, and self‑service tooling
- Enable PaaS tenants to onboard smoothly, adopt best practices, and experience reduced friction in deploying and operating workloads
- Design systems and platform components to maximize auditability, traceability, and real‑time observability
- Proven ability to automate complex, multi‑step workflows and operational processes to reduce toil and increase reliability
- Tenacity when tackling system security and compliance requirements
Must-haves in a Candidate:
- U.S. Citizenship
- B.S. in Information Technology or related field
- 3+ years of experience in managing/administrating Kubernetes clusters, control plane components, autoscaling, and container-based workload troubleshooting
- 1+ years of experience with AWS (preferred), Azure, or GCP cloud platforms including IAM, load balancers, and managed Kubernetes (EKS/AKS/GKE)
- 1+ years of experience with Infrastructure as Code tooling (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, etc.)
- 1+ years of experience with scripting languages like Python and Bash
- Familiarity with security compliance tools (e.g., Grype, Fortify, etc.)
- Familiarity with Agile development framework
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Gitlab CI and ArgoCD
Nice to Have in a Candidate:
- Experience administrating multitenant OpenShift clusters
- Experience with Crossplane or similar service layer abstraction tooling
- Experience working as part of a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)-based organization
- Familiarity with networking security and enterprise processes for Firewall Change Requests (FCRs), Security Impact Determinations (SIDRs), and Change Requests in ServiceNow workflow systems
