Job Description/Responsibilities

The Commercial Finance Analyst is responsible for supporting the Commercial Finance Manager and partnering with the Sales team to deliver accurate and insightful commercial reporting and analysis across the UK and Ireland.

This will include managing Depletion Allowances, providing analysis to identify key drivers, risks and opportunities, and supporting effective management of customer discount spend and the resolution of aged customer debt.

A self-starter with a drive for results mindset, who is naturally curious, builds strong relationships with stakeholders and provides actionable financial insight to support volume growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

Depletion Allowance Management

  • Manage the monthly Depletion Allowance (DA) process across UK and Ireland, ensuring accurate accruals, appropriate financial control and effective management of customer discount spend.
  • Lead regular DA reviews with Sales, reviewing performance and accrual positions by customer and brand, proactively challenging material variances, overspend and the robustness of accruals, and agreeing actions required to course-correct.
  • Manage DA schemes through the monthly cycle, ensuring required amendments, closures, renewals, adjustments and releases are accurately reflected within financial reporting.

DA Reporting & Analysis

  • Deliver accurate, timely and insightful DA reporting and analysis by customer and brand, including Actuals versus AOP and £/9L performance.
  • Identify key drivers/drainers, risks and opportunities, providing actionable insights to support effective management of DA spend.
  • Maintain accurate and effective DA reporting, ensuring Finance and Sales have timely visibility of performance.

Performance Management & Reporting

  • Support the Commercial Finance Manager in delivering accurate, timely and insightful commercial performance reporting and analysis across UK and Ireland.
  • Analyse performance against AOP and prior year by customer and brand, identifying key drivers, risks and opportunities.
  • Provide clear, concise and actionable commentary to support Commercial Finance and Sales decision-making.
  • Monitor aged customer debt through scheduled Sales owner reviews, agreeing and driving actions to resolution with Sales, Accounts Receivable and Shared Services.

Process Management & Improvement

  • Partner with Shared Services and Finance to ensure agreed Commercial Finance processes operate accurately and effectively, resolving issues and exceptions as required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve, simplify and automate processes and reporting, supporting implementation of agreed improvements.

Qualifications/Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years’ experience in a finance or commercial analysis role.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide clear, actionable insights.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build strong working relationships across all levels of an organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work quickly and effectively in demanding situations.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Good time management skills with a strong ability to prioritise.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office products, particularly Excel; experience of Power BI and working with large datasets is an advantage.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AAT qualified and/or studying towards ACCA/CIMA or equivalent is an advantage.
