OVERVIEW
As a Quality Engineer II, you will help ensure the quality and reliability of data solutions that support General Mills’ business. You will design and execute data and Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) testing, validate data across systems, and partner with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to deliver trusted insights. Reporting to the Manager – Quality Engineering, you will contribute to test strategy, continuous improvement, and delivery governance in a collaborative Digital and Technology environment.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Design and execute test plans, test strategies, test cases, and test data for data, extract-transform-load (ETL), business intelligence, and related technology solutions.
- Review data models, data mappings, architecture documentation, and requirements to identify test coverage, risks, and validation needs.
- Write and execute SQL queries (inside BigQuery) to validate, reconcile, and compare data across source systems, transformations, and data warehouse targets in Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Perform validation of end to end data flow from source to destination including reports (Tableau Reports).
- Perform Data Quality Checks, and document results, defects, evidence, and recommendations.
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, data analysts, data engineers and stakeholders to clarify requirements, troubleshoot issues, perform root-cause analysis, and drive resolution.
- Use appropriate test automation tools for extract-transform-load validation and identify opportunities to improve testing efficiency.
- Maintain accurate testing documentation, status reports, productivity metrics, escalations, and delivery sign-offs while meeting project milestones and quality standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, stakeholder responsiveness, and a positive, adaptable team environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Full-time graduation from an accredited university.
- Five to seven years of experience in software quality engineering, data testing, extract-transform-load (ETL) testing, or a related area.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis abilities.
- Strong understanding of the software development life cycle and multiple software engineering and testing methodologies.
- Proficiency in SQL, database testing, business intelligence testing, and data validation.
- Experience creating test cases and testing documentation from requirements or specifications, including for projects with limited development documentation.
- Familiarity with issue-tracking tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, self-motivation, and the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with peers and stakeholders, with a continuous-improvement mindset and technical agility.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in computers and related fields.
- Advanced capability in agile testing, test management, and database testing, including SQL.
- Working knowledge of extract-transform-load processes, test design techniques, and test planning.
- Foundational knowledge of application programming interfaces, artificial intelligence and machine learning, dbt, and Monte Carlo.
- ISTQB certification.
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and related services such as BigQuery or Cloud Functions.
- Knowledge of big data concepts, data warehouse structures, extract-transform-load processes, and data architecture principles.
- Basic knowledge of Python programing.
- Exposure to usage of GenAI tools in testing.
- Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines and DevOps methodologies.
