Java Developer – Java, Microservices, Cloud & Agile

Job Summary

Synechron is seeking a Java Developer with at least 7 years of Java development experience and proven experience leading a team of Java developers. The role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and delivering scalable Java-based applications and systems for large enterprise environments. This position will translate business requirements into technical solutions, support high-quality software delivery, resolve technical issues, and contribute to innovation through modern development practices, microservices architecture, and cloud computing.

Software Requirements (Required and Preferred)

Required

• Java: At least 7 years of professional experience developing Java-based applications and systems.

• Java Development Tools: Experience using standard Java development, testing, debugging, build, and deployment tools.

• Software Development Methodologies: Practical experience with Agile, Scrum, or comparable iterative delivery methodologies.

• Application Development: Experience designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and supporting enterprise Java applications.

• Version Control and Collaboration Tools: Experience using organization-approved source control, issue tracking, code review, and collaboration tools.

• Testing Tools: Experience developing and executing unit, integration, and functional tests for Java applications.

• Enterprise Delivery Practices: Experience delivering Java-based solutions within a large enterprise environment.

Preferred

• Java SE 11 or later: Experience developing applications using Java 11 or a later supported version.

• Microservices Technologies: Experience designing and developing microservices-based applications.

• Cloud Computing Platforms: Practical exposure to cloud-based application development, deployment, or support.

• Java Frameworks: Experience with commonly used Java application frameworks and libraries relevant to enterprise development.

Overall Responsibilities

• Lead, coordinate, and mentor a team of Java developers while supporting effective collaboration, technical growth, and high-quality delivery.

• Develop, enhance, maintain, test, and deploy Java-based applications and systems that meet defined business and technical requirements.

• Design and implement scalable, efficient, maintainable, and supportable Java solutions for large enterprise environments.

• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical designs, development tasks, implementation plans, and measurable delivery outcomes.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues, manage dependencies, and support informed engineering decisions.

• Apply software development methodologies, coding standards, testing practices, and documentation requirements throughout the delivery lifecycle.

• Troubleshoot application defects, performance issues, integration challenges, and production incidents within agreed timelines.

• Contribute to the adoption of microservices architecture, cloud computing, and other relevant technologies where they support business and operational objectives.

• Review technical designs, code, test results, and implementation plans to identify risks and improve solution quality.

• Promote maintainable solutions that use resources efficiently, reduce avoidable processing, and consider sustainability in application design and cloud usage where applicable.

• Track delivery progress, communicate risks and dependencies, and support continuous improvement across the development team.

• Industry or domain experience relevant to the assigned business environment is preferred but not required unless specified for a particular project.

Day-to-Day Activities

• Lead and mentor a team of Java developers, assign or coordinate development activities, review technical work, and support delivery quality.

• Analyze business requirements, participate in design and planning discussions, and translate requirements into Java-based technical solutions.

• Develop, test, deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot Java applications while monitoring delivery progress, risks, dependencies, and technical issues.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new technologies, make decisions within approved technical standards, and deliver maintainable solutions within agreed timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent relevant professional experience may be considered.

• At least 7 years of professional experience in Java development, including experience delivering enterprise Java applications and systems.

• Proven experience leading or mentoring Java developers and coordinating technical delivery activities.

• Advanced Java development certification, such as a Java SE 11 Developer certification, is preferred.

• Commitment to continuous professional development through relevant training, technology learning, certification opportunities, and evolving software engineering practices.
