Project Manager
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Asphalt Project Manager to join our team and focus on the delivery of the North East Link Project, Victoria's largest transport infrastructure project.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of the successful delivery of multiple civil and asphalt construction projects, leading teams through the full project lifecycle from planning and execution through to completion.
You will be accountable for commercial and operational performance, driving project outcomes across safety, quality, programme, cost and stakeholder management.
What You'll Be Doing
Reporting to the Contracting/Construction Manager, you'll be responsible for:
- Leading the successful delivery of allocated projects and contract portfolios from planning through to completion.
- Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to specification.
- Managing project budgets, forecasting, cost control and commercial performance.
- Leading project teams, including Project Engineers, supervisors, subcontractors and site personnel.
- Managing contract administration, risk management and project reporting.
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Driving programme performance and identifying opportunities to improve project outcomes.
- Supporting tender preparation, pricing and business development activities.
- Promoting innovation, continuous improvement and operational excellence across project teams.
- Championing Downer's Zero Harm culture and leading safety initiatives across all project activities.
What You'll Bring
To be successful in this role, you'll have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5+ years' project management experience within civil construction, asphalt, surfacing, road maintenance or infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated project management experience, including responsibility for budgets, forecasting and commercial outcomes.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing high-performing project teams.
- Sound understanding of construction contracts, procurement and subcontractor management.
- Well-developed stakeholder engagement and relationship management capabilities.
- Strong planning, organisational and decision-making skills.
- A proactive approach to problem solving, continuous improvement and innovation.
- A strong commitment to safety leadership and fostering a Zero Harm environment.
