We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Solutions Engineer to join our Sales team. In this role, you will serve as a product and market expert for one or more product lines within the Fortra portfolio, playing a critical part in pre-sales activities and business development. You will work closely with leading companies worldwide to identify technical and business requirements, demonstrate product capabilities, and design tailored solution proposals that deliver maximum value. Additionally, you will proactively manage functional and technical needs throughout the sales process and contribute to marketing initiatives such as webinars, tradeshows, and content creation. This position requires deep technical expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to build trusted relationships while driving strategic growth.
Sales Activities
- Partner closely with Sales Representatives throughout the sales cycle to support prospect engagement and opportunity advancement.
- Conduct discovery conversations to understand customer challenges, business requirements, and desired outcomes.
- Develop, present, and deliver high-impact product demonstrations tailored to customer needs.
- Own the technical evaluation process, including proof of concepts (POCs), trials, and solution validation activities.
- Identify and address technical and functional objections throughout the sales process, collaborating with internal teams to develop effective solutions.
- Develop and present solution proposals that clearly articulate business value and competitive differentiation to stakeholders at all levels, including C-suite executives.
- Estimate Professional Services effort and develop implementation project plans to support successful customer deployments.
- Stay informed on competitive offerings and positioning to effectively differentiate Fortra solutions.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the Fortra portfolio and proactively identify cross-sell and upsell opportunities.
Partner Engagement
- Collaborate with channel and strategic partners on customer visits, demonstrations, proposals, events, and sales opportunities.
- Support partner recruitment efforts by participating in discussions with prospective partners.
- Assist with partner enablement activities, including technical training, product education, and solution positioning.
- Deliver technical presentations and respond to technical questions during partner and customer engagements.
Industry Representation
- Represent Fortra at industry conferences, trade shows, user groups, webinars, and virtual events.
- Deliver presentations and thought leadership content when appropriate.
- Build and maintain industry relationships to enhance market awareness and visibility.
Product & Technical Marketing
- Participate in webinars, product showcases, and industry-focused educational events.
- Support the launch of new products, features, and releases.
- Serve as a market expert by providing insight into customer use cases, market trends, competitive positioning, and field feedback.
- Partner with Product Management and Marketing teams to communicate customer needs and market opportunities.
Senior Solutions Engineering Responsibilities
- Participate in and support the organization's most strategic and complex opportunities.
- Operate independently with minimal supervision.
- Effectively position and demonstrate a broad range of Fortra solutions.
- Develop and maintain technical mastery of assigned products and technologies.
- Understand how products fit within broader customer environments, business processes, and technology ecosystems.
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor and subject matter expert for Sales and partner teams.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance sales effectiveness, business analysis processes, and customer outcomes.
Continuous Improvement
- Continuously refine and improve business analysis, solution design, and sales engineering processes to drive efficiency, consistency, and better customer outcomes.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and knowledge sharing across the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical pre-sales, solutions engineering, technical consulting, software development, IT operations, technical support, or a related customer-facing technology role.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working directly with customers in a consultative, technical, or pre-sales capacity.
- Strong technical foundation in relevant technologies, including enterprise software, infrastructure, security, cloud platforms, integrations, or related solution domains.
- Exceptional presentation and communication skills, with the ability to effectively educate, train, and influence both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience delivering product demonstrations, proof of concepts, technical workshops, or customer-facing presentations.
- Ability to understand complex business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical issues, identify root causes, and recommend effective solutions.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with customers, partners, sales teams, and cross-functional stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting enterprise software, cybersecurity, infrastructure, automation, data management, or related technology solutions.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, APIs, integrations, database technologies, or DevOps practices.
- Experience delivering technical training, enablement sessions, or customer workshops.
- Experience supporting complex sales cycles and technical evaluations.
- Industry certifications relevant to assigned products or technologies.
Compensation: 125,000 USD - 155,000 USD Base
