Qantas has a range of subsidiary businesses that support the overall operations of the Group. The Qantas Group’s main business is the transportation of customers and freight using two complementary airline brands — Qantas and Jetstar — operating regional, domestic, and international services.

Job Description

  • Support the Inflight Experience portfolio, including Dining & Hospitality, catering operations and key operational cost centres across the Qantas network.
  • Support financial reporting, month-end activities, business partnering and performance analysis while managing and developing one direct report, Financial Analyst.
  • 12-month fixed-term opportunity based at our Mascot Head Office with a flexible hybrid working model.

The Finance division plays a critical role in helping Qantas maintain its leadership position by providing financial reporting, governance, planning support and commercial insights across the Group.

As a Senior Financial Analyst within the Inflight Experience Finance team, you will partner with operational leaders and Finance stakeholders to deliver high-quality financial reporting, analysis and business insights that support decision-making across a dynamic and fast-paced portfolio.

Supporting areas including Dining & Hospitality, catering operations and other operational activities, you will be responsible for managing month-end processes, forecasting, budgeting, financial control activities and commercial analysis. Working closely with Finance Business Partners and operational stakeholders, you will help drive performance, identify risks and opportunities, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the portfolio.

This role also offers the opportunity to develop your leadership capability through the management and coaching of a Financial Analyst.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Leading month-end close activities, including journals, accruals, reconciliations and financial reporting.
  • Delivering accurate forecasting, budgeting and planning activities across the portfolio.
  • Providing insightful variance analysis and identifying key risks, opportunities and business drivers.
  • Partnering with operational stakeholders to support informed commercial and financial decision-making.
  • Supporting half-year and year-end reporting requirements and maintaining a strong financial control environment.
  • Preparing financial models and ad hoc analysis to support business initiatives.
  • Driving process improvement opportunities and supporting finance-related system implementation activities.
  • Managing, coaching and developing a Financial Analyst while fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
  • Balancing routine reporting requirements with a diverse range of stakeholder requests and business priorities.

You'll have:

  • CA or CPA qualification.
  • Demonstrated experience in management accounting, financial analysis, commercial finance or business partnering roles.
  • Strong month-end close, reconciliation and financial reporting experience.
  • Experience preparing budgets, forecasts and management reports within a large or complex organisation.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate financial information into meaningful commercial insights.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across Finance and operational teams.
  • Experience supporting operational or customer-facing business portfolios will be highly regarded.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exposure to Power BI, Alteryx or other reporting and analytics tools will be advantageous.
