Position Overview
The Senior Data Engineer works with a Senior Data/ML Engineer and supports advanced data engineering within the Army Vantage environment. The position focuses on high-performance Python-based data processing and the development and implementation of predictive capabilities.
The position requires familiarity and technical understanding across one or more areas including in Python, Polars, NumPy, and predictive machine learning using Scikit-Learn, LightGBM, XGBoost, and related techniques supported by demonstrated experience completing projects involving 2 or more of these technologies. The emphasis is on understanding how the technologies interact and having sufficient practical experience to successfully implement their integration.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop high-performance data-processing and analytical workflows using Python.
- Prepare, transform, analyze, and validate data using Polars, NumPy, and related Python technologies.
- Support feature development for predictive machine learning.
- Working with ML Engineer, develop, train, evaluate, and refine predictive machine learning models.
- Evaluate performance and support model optimization and calibration.
- Support monitoring of predictive models and identification of model or data drift.
- Develop production-ready analytical capabilities for use within Army Vantage.
- Integrate data products and predictive models into the Army Vantage environment.
- Collaborate with the Full-Stack/Integration Lead and Foundry Workshop Developers to incorporate analytical capabilities into end-to-end mission solutions.
- Troubleshoot data-processing, analytical, and predictive-model issues.
- Document analytical approaches, data-processing logic, model methodology, and technical implementation.
Required Qualifications
- Education: BS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Analytics, or another related scientific or technical discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Must have an active Secret security clearance
- Years of Experience: 8+ years of experience in data engineering including working with and designing dimensional models for analytical and reporting environments.
- Technical Competencies & Tools:
- Demonstrated senior-level Data engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in Python.
- Hands-on experience with Polars.
- Hands-on experience with NumPy.
- Understanding of predictive machine learning experience.
- Experience with LightGBM.
- Experience with XGBoost.
Preferred Expertise
- Experience developing data or analytical capabilities within Palantir Foundry/Army Vantage.
- Experience operationalizing predictive models within enterprise environments.
- Experience supporting large or complex government data environments.
- Previous Army, DoD, or federal mission-system experience.
