Full description

What we are looking for:

Partner Forces is looking for a hands-on Data Engineer to support a federal cybersecurity client at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). We're looking for someone who enjoys solving complex data problems, connecting systems, and finding smarter ways to automate processes. In this role, you'll help bring together data from different sources, build and improve data pipelines, and develop automated solutions that make data more accessible, reliable, and useful. The ideal candidate is a strong technical problem solver who thinks automation-first, is comfortable working with messy or disconnected datasets, and enjoys figuring out how to make systems work better together.

At Partner Forces, we value curious, collaborative people who are willing to roll up their sleeves, ask good questions, and find practical solutions that support the mission.

What you'll do:

  • Design, build, and maintain data pipelines that integrate information from multiple systems and sources.
  • Develop automated processes to collect, transform, organize, and move data efficiently.
  • Integrate structured and unstructured datasets to improve data accessibility and usability.
  • Use SQL, Python, and other tools to clean, transform, and manage data.
  • Identify opportunities to replace manual processes with scalable, automated solutions.
  • Troubleshoot data integration challenges and improve data quality, consistency, and reliability.
  • Support data platforms, databases, and cloud-based environments.
  • Help organize and document data so teams can understand where it comes from and how it can be used.
  • Collaborate with technical teams and mission stakeholders to understand needs and develop practical solutions.
  • Support data that enables cybersecurity operations, analytics, reporting, and other mission capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active Top Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Approximately 3–7 years of experience in data engineering, data integration, automation, or a related technical field.
  • Hands-on experience building data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with databases and multiple data sources.
  • Experience using Python or similar scripting languages to automate data processes.
  • Experience integrating, transforming, and managing complex datasets.
  • Familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Candidates must be local to the DMV area and available to work onsite 2–3 days per week. This is a required in-person commitment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with metadata management, data catalogs, or data governance.
  • Experience supporting federal cybersecurity or DHS missions.
  • Experience with APIs, workflow automation, or modern data integration tools.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing, data lakes, or modern data platforms.

Next Steps:

If your application looks like a match, someone from our People Operations team will reach out to schedule a phone screening. During this conversation, we will determine if the current or future position aligns with your experience and skills. If things go well, from there you'll meet with members from the project team, including the hiring manager and teammates, and possibly be asked to submit a writing assessment to showcase your practical knowledge. If we find you are a match, you’ll get a call offering you the role. While we wish we could hire every great candidate who comes our way, the reality is that we can't. If you are not selected, we will be sure to connect with you and let you know so you can move on with your search. We will also keep your resume for future needs.
