Full description

Financial intelligence for 100M+ users across the world's leading banks.

Meniga builds financial intelligence for the world's leading banks - 100M+ users, 30+ countries. We're not the brand on the app. We're the layer underneath it - the one that makes the data meaningful, the experience personal, and the bank worth opening. Meniga's offices are in London, Reykjavik, Warsaw and Cairo.

THE WORK

We're scaling technology team to match a growing business and a full commitment to AI. The platform is in active transformation - performance, architecture, and AI - and we're driving a strategic shift from MSSQL-only databases toward a broader stack that includes PostgreSQL and analytical databases like ClickHouse. You'll work within the Platform Team, alongside DBAs providing expertise on MSSQL as well as other databases, and you'll be the person who makes sure our database landscape stays fast, safe, and ready for what's next.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Own database reliability end-to-end - performance, availability, backup/recovery, capacity planning - across production systems running inside real bank environments
  • Drive schema and query design decisions with engineering squads - you're a partner in architecture conversations, not a gatekeeper brought in after the fact
  • Lead performance tuning and troubleshooting on database-heavy systems where a slow query or a bad index has real client consequences
  • Own migrations and upgrades - version upgrades, and increasingly, MSSQL to PostgreSQL where it makes sense
  • Hold a high engineering bar - review schema changes and queries, push back when shortcuts threaten reliability or data integrity - not as bureaucracy, but because you care what ships

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Accountability over activity - you own the health of a database from design decision through to production, and you drive the mitigation when something goes wrong
  • Business-minded - you understand what's at stake for the client when their data layer misbehaves, and you engage with engineering squads as a partner, not a ticket queue
  • Can-do under constraints - on-premises bank environments are demanding, often locked-down, and rarely clean-slate; you find a way, not an excuse
  • Deep, production-hardened MSSQL expertise - performance tuning, indexing strategy, backup/DR, security, and troubleshooting under real load, not lab conditions
  • AI-native - you use AI tools as a natural part of how you work (Cursor & Claude Code)

TECH

Must have: MSSQL (production-grade administration and performance tuning) Huge plus: PostgreSQL ·  Clickhouse Nice to have: Azure · Kubernetes · Terraform · Kafka · Fintech · ETL

WHAT YOU GET

  • Competitive salary + equity: B2B, 22.000 - 29.000k PLN + VAT, + ESOPs
  • Hybrid - 2 days in office, 3 remote
  • Private healthcare, fitness, meal & phone allowance
  • A team where technical opinions are welcomed, not managed
  • Software that runs inside real global banks, used by millions of people every day

HOW WE HIRE

  • Screening - 30 min call. Real systems, real decisions, real trade-offs.
  • Meet the CTO - 15 min. We want to understand how you think and what you care about. So does he.
  • 90 min interview - onsite or call. One real problem (performance/design + troubleshooting + AI), and a conversation with a senior team member. AI tools are welcome.
