About the Role: Join the Data Solutions & Products team within our Cloud Platform & Data organization and play a key role in building and operating a strategic B2B API platform for connected vehicle and automotive data.
The platform enables secure and scalable data sharing with external data aggregators, fleet customers, and third-party partners, including insurance and charging companies. By turning connected vehicle data into high-value data products and services, we aim to unlock new business opportunities, accelerate data monetization, and strengthen the market competitiveness of our brands in Europe.
As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and deploying data products on our modern data platform, while ensuring their reliability, quality, security, and operational readiness. You will work across data engineering, cloud infrastructure, data quality, testing, and stakeholder support to ensure that data products deliver measurable business value without compromising security or business continuity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable batch and streaming data pipelines for ingesting data from diverse sources.
- Build and maintain automated data pipeline orchestration and workflow processes.
- Develop data processing workflows for data cleansing, deduplication, validation, transformation, and enrichment.
- Develop and deploy data products and services on the cloud data platform, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
- Operate and maintain the data platform in close collaboration with cloud and infrastructure teams.
- Perform comprehensive platform upgrade and release testing, including regression, functional, security, integration, and data validation testing.
- Implement controls and automated checks to ensure data security, accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability.
- Establish and maintain monitoring for pipeline performance, data quality, system health, and operational incidents.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to data pipelines, storage, integrations, and downstream data services.
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to define data requirements, data models, and data products that meet consumer needs.
- Provide technical guidance and support to internal and external data consumers, including secure data-access provisioning and troubleshooting.
- Apply appropriate data governance and security practices when enabling access to sensitive connected vehicle and customer-related data.
- Document data pipelines, architectures, data models, workflows, operational procedures, and troubleshooting processes.
- Design and maintain data models supporting reporting, analytics, and BI use cases.
- Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and visualizations for business and operational reporting.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices, automation, CI/CD, testing, observability, and platform reliability.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering or a closely related field.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
- Strong hands-on experience with big data technologies, including data lakes, Apache Spark, Apache Flink, Kafka, or similar technologies.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing, ETL/ELT processes, data modelling, and data integration.
- Strong programming skills in at least one relevant language, particularly Python and/or SQL.
- Hands-on experience with AWS data and analytics services, preferably including:
- Amazon S3
- Amazon Redshift
- Amazon EMR
- Other relevant AWS data, storage, compute, or monitoring services
- Experience with Databricks and modern cloud data platforms; experience with Snowflake is also valuable.
- Experience with Azure data and analytics services, particularly Azure Data Factory and Power BI Service.
- Good understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, release management, and software engineering practices.
- Practical experience implementing data quality, monitoring, validation, and observability solutions.
- Experience with Power BI for data analysis, modelling, visualization, and dashboard development.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and tools such as Terraform is a strong advantage.
- Understanding of cloud security, identity and access management, data protection, and secure data-sharing principles.
- Experience working with automotive, connected vehicle, telematics, IoT, or mobility data is highly desirable.
- Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Chinese language skills are an advantage.
