Job Description Summary:

Amplify is seeking a detail-oriented and solutions-driven Business Systems Analyst to optimize People Technology systems and HR processes across the organization. In this role, you'll partner with People Technology, People Operations, Finance, and cross-functional stakeholders to enhance Workday and related HCM systems, improve operational efficiency, and deliver scalable technology solutions that support the employee experience.

The Business Systems Analyst translates business needs into clear functional requirements, supports agile development processes, leads User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and drives system improvements that align with organizational goals and compliance standards.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Partner with Product Owner (People Tech) and People Operations stakeholders to define and prioritize the product vision for HCM functions, including Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, and Time & Attendance.

  • Proactively conduct requirements walkthroughs and workshops to clarify needs with development and business teams. Accurately identify and document all key use cases and functional requirements to support the People Tech roadmap.

  • Acquire requirements for sophisticated system improvements (specifically within Workday and integrated systems) and document them in the format of user stories and acceptance criteria.

  • Build business and technical workflows that support and outline the processes the business follows to perform its functions, specifically focusing on the employee lifecycle and HR compliance.

  • Analyze People business processes and recommend system enhancements that improve efficiency, standardize processes, and strengthen data integrity.

  • Facilitate communication across departments to identify potential changes to upstream or downstream processes that impact Payroll, Benefits, and HR Reporting.

  • Partner with the People Tech Product Owner to manage the details of requirements (epics and user stories) within the backlog, ensuring user stories are aligned to business personas.

  • Perform and facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for initial implementations and Workday upgrades. Create comprehensive test plans that align test cases with business requirements and acceptance criteria.

  • Prioritize information for Change Control meetings and acquire vital approval for the release and deployment of system changes.

  • Leverage various datasets to solve complex issues and drive business decisions, ensuring strict confidentiality regarding sensitive employee and contractor data.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues relating to the configuration of Workday and associated People Technology systems.

  • Collaborate with Product Owners to scope strategic initiatives and assess technical feasibility.

  • Research industry standard best practices for HRIS/HCM processes (e.g., privacy regulations, payroll automation) and proactively propose system enhancements that align the People Team with industry standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in technology, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • 4+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or related role
  • Strong understanding of HR and Payroll business processes, controls, and compliance considerations.
  • Experience supporting Workday HCM, Payroll, and Recruiting modules.
  • Experience utilizing data management concepts to maintain data integrity across integrated systems
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with the ability to handle sensitive/confidential data

Preferred Qualifications

  • NetSuite experience or another enterprise ERP platform
  • Workday Pro, Lean Six Sigma or PMP certifications
  • Ashby experience
  • Pigment experience
  • Experience working with Agile Methodologies and best practices, specifically in writing user stories and managing backlogs
  • Background in the K-12 education industry
