The RoleThe Engineering Manager is a pivotal leader within Keyloop’s engineering organization, responsible for building, leading, and developing high-performing teams. This role is accountable for the collective success and growth of engineers, ensuring the team delivers high-quality software that aligns with business goals and embodies Keyloop’s “Experience-First” philosophy.
Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership & Innovation
- Facilitate team-level design discussions, ensuring sound architecture and technical excellence
- Maintain deep understanding of the tech stack to evaluate feasibility and provide technical guidance
- Partner with Staff Engineers and Engineering Leads to establish technical direction
- Guide the team toward robust, scalable solutions without making all technical decisions yourself
- Champion the adoption of AI-assisted development tools and ensure the team leverages them effectively
- Stay current with emerging technologies and their potential impact on team productivity
Execution & Delivery
- Own the team's delivery process (SAFe/Scrum) and ensure predictable, high-quality output
- Manage project planning, execution, and operational health of team systems
- Proactively identify and remove blockers that impede team progress
- Track and improve key metrics including velocity, quality, and operational stability
- Ensure the team consistently meets its commitments and delivery goals
- Optimize team workflows through strategic implementation of AI and automation tools
People Leadership
- Hire, onboard, and develop a diverse team of talented engineers
- Conduct regular, meaningful 1:1s focused on growth and development
- Provide continuous feedback and coach engineers for career advancement
- Write thoughtful performance reviews and create individual development plans
- Foster a culture of psychological safety, trust, and high performance
- Build an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives are valued
- Guide team members in developing AI literacy and effective use of AI tools
Communication & Collaboration
- Act as the primary communication hub between your team and stakeholders
- Partner closely with Product Management and Design to define and influence the team roadmap
- Clearly communicate project status, risks, and dependencies to leadership
- Shield the team from distractions while ensuring alignment with business goals
- Facilitate productive discussions that lead to clear decisions and actions
- Advocate for your team's needs and celebrate their achievements
Product & Business Impact
- Develop deep understanding of your product domain and customer needs
- Ensure the team understands the "why" behind their work and its business value
- Balance feature development, technical debt reduction, and innovation
- Contribute to product strategy and roadmap planning
- Drive initiatives that directly impact customer satisfaction and business metrics
- Identify opportunities where AI can accelerate delivery and improve product quality
What we're looking for
- 3+ years of experience managing software engineering teams
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with strong technical foundation
- Proven track record of building, developing, and retaining high-performing teams
- Experience with Agile methodologies and modern software delivery practices
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
- Strong communication skills with ability to translate between technical and business contexts
- Experience with performance management, coaching, and career development
- Understanding of AI-assisted development tools and their impact on team productivity
