Program Financial Analyst

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Program Financial Analyst based in the United States.

As a Program Financial Analyst, you will play a key role in maintaining the financial health and visibility of complex programs. You’ll own budgeting, forecasting, spending analysis, and financial reporting while helping program leaders make informed business decisions. The role combines financial planning and analysis with hands-on program operations, including procurement, invoicing, accruals, and reconciliation. You’ll monitor performance against financial targets, identify risks and trends, and provide actionable insights to stakeholders. This is an opportunity to work in a project-driven environment where strong analytical skills and attention to detail directly influence program outcomes. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with large datasets, building financial models, and managing multiple financial processes with accuracy.

Accountabilities

• Develop, maintain, and monitor program budgets and financial forecasts, ensuring financial plans accurately reflect program priorities and expected spending.

• Track program expenditures and compare actual performance against approved budgets and forecasts, identifying and explaining material variances.

• Prepare financial reports and analysis for program leadership, providing clear visibility into spending, financial performance, risks, opportunities, and emerging trends.

• Apply FP&A principles to support budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and ongoing financial planning activities.

• Manage procurement-related financial processes, including purchase activity, statements of work, accruals, invoicing, and financial reconciliation.

• Support month-end close activities by ensuring financial records are complete, accurate, and properly reconciled.

• Investigate financial discrepancies and work with relevant stakeholders to resolve issues efficiently and maintain data integrity.

• Identify financial risks and opportunities and provide insights that help program leaders optimize resources and make informed decisions.

• Collaborate with program and project stakeholders to ensure financial processes, reporting, and controls remain aligned with program objectives.

• Maintain accurate financial documentation and reporting while supporting continuous improvement of program financial processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.

• 2–3+ years of relevant experience in financial analysis, FP&A, accounting, or a comparable finance role.

• Previous experience working within a project-based or program management environment is strongly preferred.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modeling, pivot tables, complex formulas such as VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP and INDEX/MATCH, and data analysis.

• Strong FP&A expertise, including experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and detailed actual-versus-budget or forecast variance analysis.

• Solid understanding of accounting principles, particularly accrual accounting, invoicing, month-end close, and financial reconciliation.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends, investigate discrepancies, and translate financial data into actionable insights.

• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, particularly when managing multiple financial processes, deadlines, and stakeholders.

• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information effectively to program and business stakeholders.

• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced, program-oriented environment.
