Benefits
Full description
Location: Shanghai or Remote within APAC (China time zone preferred)
Department: IT & Digital (Developers, QA Engineers, Product/Project Managers, UI/UX Designers)
Employment Type: Full-Time
We are looking for a Technical Project Manager to lead complex digital and e-commerce projects within our IT & UX team. This role is ideal for a strong project manager with a solid technical background who has previously worked as a backend or full-stack developer and can confidently engage in architectural, implementation, and performance discussions.
You will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering technically complex projects, acting as the bridge between development teams, product stakeholders, and business needs. While this is not a hands-on coding role, some level of technical expertise is essential to guide architecture discussions, challenge solutions, manage risks, and ensure high-quality delivery across both frontend and backend systems.
Scope and planning
- Translate business and product requirements into clear technical scopes, delivery plans, and timelines.
- Factor multi-domain and multi-market impact into every scope and release decision.
- Proactively identify technical gaps and improvement opportunities, assess their business impact, and build prioritized roadmaps for lasting platform improvements.
Execution and delivery
- Lead the delivery of technical projects across backend and frontend systems, with a strong focus on reliability, performance, and scalability.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams spanning several locations and time zones (developers, QA, PM, stakeholders) to ensure clear prioritization, smooth execution and predictable delivery.
- Manage external partners, system vendors, and agencies through planning, integration, and release.
- Own risks, dependencies, and trade-offs throughout the project lifecycle.
- Own the outcome after release, tracking results against the goals agreed at scoping.
Technical ownership and methodologies
- Act as the technical counterpart to developers and product owners, guiding architecture discussions and constructively challenging technical decisions, scope and trade-offs.
- Control deliverables against agreed standards for code quality, testing, and documentation, including a written record of key technical decisions.
- Apply Agile ways of working and manage delivery tracking, reporting, and stakeholder visibility through Jira.
- Use Gen-AI tools such as Claude to speed up investigation, scoping, and documentation, while validating output critically and respecting data handling rules.
- Solid experience as a developer (backend or full stack), with a strong understanding of modern web architectures.
- Proven project management experience in IT, digital, or e-commerce environments, including stakeholder management.
- Hands-on e-commerce project experience, such as websites, OMS/WMS, SEO, data analytics, and system integrations (payments, logistics, marketplaces, ERP).
- Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience or familiarity with RESTful API design and integrations.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams including developers, QA engineers, PMs, and business stakeholders.
- Excellent English communication skills (spoken and written), with the ability to explain complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving mindset, with the ability to balance technical excellence and delivery pragmatism.
- Strong product and business mindset, with an understanding of end-to-end value chains and customer journeys.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in IT, digital, or e-commerce environments.
- Strong technical knowledge of:
- PHP and MySQL
- MVC architecture applications
- E-commerce platforms and payment gateway integrations
- Database performance, query optimization, and scalable architecture (e.g. AWS RDS)
- Object-oriented programming (OOP) and software design principles
- Frontend technologies and templating (e.g. Blade, jQuery or modern equivalents)
- Familiarity with our technology stack:
- Laravel PHP framework
- Zend PHP framework (legacy stack being phased out)
- ReactJS, Bootstrap
- Competitive Salary
- Performance bonuses
- Free designer glasses annually
- Annual/Sick Leaves
- Career development / learning program
- Fast-paced, dynamic, and multicultural work environment
