This Role This role is based in Tokyo, Japan, delivering the CSA scope on RHAELM's data centre construction programme.
As Project Manager - CSA, you will manage the end-to-end delivery of the civil, structural, and architectural scope on RHAELM's data centre construction projects.
Your leadership will ensure foundational, structural, building envelope, and architectural works meet rigorous standards, stay on schedule, and integrate seamlessly with the wider MEP and commissioning programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate site-based CSA construction activities, contractors, and site personnel on a day-to-day basis
- Act as the primary point of contact for all civil, structural, and architectural design, procurement, and execution status
- Develop and manage integrated project schedules for the CSA scope, identifying critical paths and mitigating risk
- Oversee procurement, package preparation, and contract negotiations for CSA contractors and suppliers
- Monitor installation quality, ensuring works comply with approved drawings, structural calculations, and building codes
- Coordinate closely with Design, MEP, Security, Operations, and Commissioning teams to manage interfaces
- Review and approve invoices, payment applications, and retention payments
- Oversee project close-out, ensuring smooth handover with full documentation and warranties
Experience
- Significant experience delivering large-scale structural, concrete, steel, cladding, and roofing packages
- Data centre or other mission-critical/complex construction project experience highly advantageous
- Proven ability to manage complex subcontractor interfaces on live construction sites
- Strong commercial awareness, managing budgets, variations, and reporting
- Experience coordinating CSA scope with MEP and commissioning teams
- Experience operating within Japan's construction, engineering, or regulatory market context advantageous
Skills
- Strong understanding of civil, structural, and architectural construction methods
- Familiarity with BIM coordination, design standards, and construction methodologies
- Confident budget, schedule, and risk management
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management
- Knowledge of relevant building codes and construction regulations
Qualifications
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline
- Relevant health & safety qualifications (SMSTS, IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent)
- Membership of a relevant professional body advantageous
- Based in Tokyo, Japan; business-level English required, Japanese language skills advantageous
