Job Purpose

With the translation of raw data into key valuable insights being central to driving essential decisions and keeping key management well informed, an entertainment and hospitality company is seeking to appoint an experienced, skilled and talented business information manager. Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, the successful candidate will be a strategic partner to the senior management team and is expected to have strong logical reasoning skills, business intelligence and a solid ability to communicate effectively. Leading a small team of data analysts, you will provide guidance and be hands-on in developing and implementing data strategies that align with business objectives. As the team lead, you will work closely with our senior executives to make sense of multiple and complex data streams, enhancing better decision making and innovation.

Qualifications

  • Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Statistics or a related field

Minimum Requirements

  • Proven industry experience within the data and analytics field for 7-10 years, at least 3 of which are in a managerial capacity.
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis tools and technologies such as SQL, Python, Tableau, Power BI and QuickSight.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate complex datasets and identify root causes of data issues.
  • Obsessive desire to understand how data flows through systems and how data quality impacts index outcomes.
  • Experience with data warehousing and data modelling.
  • A goal-oriented mindset, analytical thinking ability, a standout work ethic.
  • Team leadership capabilities

Main Responsibilites

  • Develop and implement data strategies to obtain key customer insights and help drive growth in partnership with the multiple business units.
  • Take charge of pre-determined business reports with varying reporting intervals, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
  • Oversee and the design and implementation of data models and algorithms to drive to extract valuable data insights.
  • Lead and manage a small team of data analysts to drive the successful execution of data projects.
  • Drive the adoption of advanced analytics techniques such as machine learning and predictive modelling.
  • Lead the efforts to improve data visualization and reporting capabilities to enhance data accessibility and usability.
  • Be a pivotal intelligence source to better inform key reporting, and reviews during prescribed monthly and quarterly sessions as well as the annual business planning process.
  • Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies in data and analytics to help drive innovation within the organization.
  • Establish key partnerships with external vendors, data analytical tools providers, as well as industry experts to enhance our data capabilities. Be the custodian of the company’s website, providing up-to-the-minute content updates, as well as web analytics, by key property to provide actionable insights.
  • Lead the journey towards AI-powered models, enabling the data team to focus on deeper insights and strategic work.
  • Drive the integration legacy systems, and leverage modern analytics systems, giving management teams state of the art actionable insights.
