Full description

As the Product Manager, you will own the product strategy and roadmap for WORQ's internal technology platforms. Our operations, sales, community, and support teams rely on software every day, and you'll be responsible for ensuring we build the right solutions to improve efficiency, scalability, and user experience across our business.

Acting as the bridge between business stakeholders and the engineering team, you will identify operational challenges, uncover user needs, prioritize opportunities, and translate them into clear product requirements and development roadmaps. You will work closely with teams across the organization to understand workflows, validate problems, and ensure the products we build deliver measurable business impact.

This is a hands-on role within a lean, fast-moving environment. You will conduct user discovery, define product specifications, prioritize backlogs, participate in sprint planning and reviews, and measure the success of each release through user adoption, operational improvements, and business outcomes. While you will not be expected to write production code, you should be technically proficient enough to communicate effectively with engineers, understand technical trade-offs, and make informed product decisions.

(I) Product direction

  • Own and maintain the product roadmap for WORQ’s internal platforms and member-facing applications, ensuring priorities, timelines, and upcoming initiatives are clearly communicated to relevant teams.
  • Work closely with Operations, Sales, Finance, and Community teams to understand business needs and translate them into clear, actionable, and buildable product requirements.
  • Make informed decisions on what should be built, improved, deferred, or deprioritized, and clearly communicate the rationale to stakeholders across different levels of the Company.
  • Evaluate and prioritize product ideas based on business objectives and roadmap priorities, clearly documenting key decisions and rationale.

(II) Discovery and requirements

  • Engage with internal users at WORQ locations to understand actual workflows, pain points, and user needs.
  • Translate user needs into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and product specifications for engineering teams.
  • Map current-state processes before defining system or product solutions.
  • Incorporate relevant competitor and market insights into product decisions.

(III) Delivery

  • Coordinate sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release planning with the engineering team.
  • Validate and accept delivered features against defined acceptance criteria and requirements.
  • Track delivery progress, identify risks and delays early, and make clear trade-offs between scope, timeline, and quality.
  • Coordinate feature rollouts, internal training, and change communication to support successful adoption.

(IV) Measurement

  • Define measurable success metrics and expected outcomes for each product initiative before development.
  • Analyze product and usage data to assess whether delivered features achieve their intended outcomes.
  • Apply insights and learnings to continuously refine the product roadmap, including improving or discontinuing underperforming features.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in product management, product ownership, business analysis, or a similar role with ownership of product scope and priorities.
  • Proven track record of delivering software products or features that are adopted and used by internal or external users.
  • Experience working directly with software engineering teams in an Agile environment, such as Scrum or Kanban.
  • Experience integrating or replacing third-party SaaS solutions with in-house systems is a strong advantage.
  • Comfortable reading API documentation, database schemas, and system architecture diagrams.
  • Strong ability to write clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and process flows.
  • Proficient with product and project management tools such as Jira, Linear, Notion, or similar platforms.
  • Comfortable working with data, including interpreting dashboards, defining data requirements, and using basic SQL as an advantage.
  • Familiarity with modern web and cloud technologies such as JavaScript/TypeScript, React/Next.js, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and Google Cloud, with sufficient technical understanding to work effectively with engineering teams.

Mindset

  • You are curious about how the business makes money, not just about the product
  • You are comfortable making a decision on incomplete information and revisiting it later
  • You prefer shipping something small this month over designing something perfect for next year
  • You take ownership when something you prioritised turns out to be wrong

Soft skills

  • Clear written communication, especially the ability to write a spec that removes ambiguity
  • Able to run a meeting with operations staff and a technical review with engineers on the same day
  • Comfortable pushing back on senior stakeholders with evidence
  • Working proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia
