ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for two Lead Developers / Feature Team Leads to join our automotive client and support the development and evolution of enterprise and cloud-based applications.
Both roles combine hands-on software development with technical leadership. You will work closely with the development teams and the German Architect, providing technical guidance, supporting architectural decisions, and contributing directly to the development of solutions.
The two positions have slightly different technical focuses:
- Cloud-focused Lead: stronger experience with AWS and cloud-native development, alongside Java and Angular.
- Legacy-focused Lead: stronger experience with Java and the legacy application stack, including GlassFish, while also working with modern Java/Quarkus and Angular technologies.
Both roles require strong technical leadership, collaboration skills, and the ability to work effectively in an international environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and support a software development team together with the Architect.
- Provide technical guidance and support developers in day-to-day implementation.
- Contribute hands-on to the design, development, testing, and maintenance of applications.
- Translate architectural concepts and requirements into practical technical solutions.
- Take ownership of technical decisions within the team and ensure alignment with the overall architecture.
- Drive development best practices, code quality, maintainability, and continuous improvement.
- Review code and provide technical feedback and mentoring to other developers.
- Collaborate closely with architects, developers, product stakeholders, and other technical teams.
- Help identify and resolve technical challenges, dependencies, and risks.
- Support the transition and evolution from legacy technologies towards modern, scalable solutions.
- Participate in the design and development of cloud-based services and applications, depending on the area of focus.
REQUIREMENTS
- Strong professional experience in Java software development.
- Experience in a Lead Developer, Technical Lead, or similar technical leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of Java/Quarkus and modern Java development practices.
- Experience with Angular and frontend development.
- For the cloud-focused position: strong practical experience with AWS and cloud-native application development.
- For the legacy-focused position: strong experience with legacy Java applications and GlassFish, combined with an understanding of modernizing legacy systems.
- Good understanding of software architecture, design patterns, APIs, and distributed applications.
- Experience with modern development practices, version control, testing, and CI/CD.
- Ability to balance hands-on development with technical leadership and team coordination.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Ability to work effectively with an architect and development team in an international environment.
- Willingness and readiness to travel as required by project or client needs is expected. This may include occasional domestic or international travel, sometimes on short notice.
