Team / division overview
DWS’s data infrastructure team provides the secure, scalable and trustworthy foundation for storing, processing and distributing critical enterprise data. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will design, build, and operate scalable data pipelines and platform components that power decision-making, reporting, and enterprise analytics. You will work closely with data governance teams, platform engineering, and business stakeholders to raise the bar on data quality and reliability.
Your responsibilities –
As Senior Data Engineer - Snowflake, you will:
- Design and implement robust ELT pipelines using dbt on Snowflake, following established data modeling standards
- Build and maintain data products for core domains including fund accounting, positions, NAV, and regulatory reporting
- Define and enforce data contracts, expectations and alerts with
- Design and develop infrastructure components in Terraform or other IaC and infrastructure automation tools
- Collaborate with architects, security engineers, control functions, the Chief Data Office and other stakeholder to improve compliance, security posture and reliability
- Work with product owners to translate product vision and demand into platform capabilities
We are looking for
- 10+ years of experience in data engineering roles
- Deep hands-on expertise with Snowflake, including architecture, performance tuning, Snowpark, OpenFlow and Streamlit
- Strong dbt proficiency (models, macros, packages, testing, deployment)
- Very strong Python skills for pipeline development and tooling
- Experience with common enterprise data modeling, such as dimensional modeling, SCD or Data Vault
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g. GCP), StreamSets and Airflow
- Previous exposure to data governance tooling (e.g. Collibra)
- Understanding of asset management and the financial services data domain would be a plus
- Strong problem-solving skills, strategic thinking and attention to detail
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
- Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, optimise workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs.
