Senior Technical Product Manager

Position Overview

As Senior Technical Product Manager, you will maximize the value of the product and define work for multiple scrum teams. You will collaborate with Product Owners, Systems Engineering, and Data & Analytics and Platform Architects to own and progressively elaborate functional and non-functional epics and features for development teams to deliver. You will be empowered to make all decisions regarding the technical product backlog.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maximize the value of the product and the work of the development team
  • Act as Product Manager for larger, more complex projects with high value to the organization
  • Create, maintain, and prioritize the product backlog according to business value for the life of the project
  • Communicate product backlog priorities to the team
  • Act as the key decision-maker regarding what features the product will have
  • Own the product vision and convey that vision to the team
  • Define acceptance criteria for product features
  • Work closely with key stakeholders throughout the organization
  • Make decisions on release dates and content
  • Represent the customer, interfacing and engaging with the customer directly
  • Communicate releases to stakeholders and customers
  • Perform other job duties as assigned by management from time to time

Work Environment

This is a full-time, onsite position based in our client's Chicago, IL office, five days per week.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of relevant experience, or
  • Master's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience

Required Technical Skills

  • Business Analysis: Knowledge of business analysis tasks, techniques, and tools required to identify business needs; ability to recommend solutions that deliver value to stakeholders
  • Decision Making & Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools, and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs
  • Software Product Business Knowledge: Knowledge of and experience with the business aspects and operation of a software product; ability to manage install base, current uses, future plans, and product vision
  • Software Engineering: Knowledge of software engineering methodologies and best practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading programs from product strategy through building and executing roadmaps
  • At least 4 years of experience in Product Management within the software space
  • Experience with data analytics and commercializing APIs
  • Business-level Product Management experience (applications or data platform)
