About Unifeye
Unifeye is a delivery-led, Databricks-first consultancy helping organisations unlock the full value of their data and AI. We’re a lean, high-growth team working at the intersection of data, technology and business strategy, partnering with enterprise organisations to solve complex data challenges through modern Lakehouse architectures on Databricks.
At Unifeye you’ll be trusted to take ownership from day one, challenge conventional thinking and make a genuine impact on clients and on the growth of the business.
The Role
We’re looking for a Data Engineer with a background in application or web development to join our delivery team. You’ll help build data platforms and, importantly, applications on Databricks, including Databricks Apps that put data and AI directly in the hands of business users.
This role suits someone who started out building software (web apps, front end, full stack or similar) and has moved, or is moving, into data engineering. If you think like a builder and enjoy turning ideas into real, usable products, your development background will be a real advantage here. You don’t need previous Databricks experience. We’ll support you with training and certification.
What You’ll Do
- Help design and build applications on Databricks, including Databricks Apps, that bring data and AI to end users.
- Build and maintain data pipelines using Spark, PySpark and SQL.
- Work with Lakehouse architectures using Delta Lake and Medallion (Bronze, Silver, Gold) design principles.
- Develop integrations and ingestion from APIs, files and other data sources.
- Apply good engineering practice to data work: testing, version control, CI/CD and deployment automation.
- Collaborate with architects, AI specialists and client stakeholders to turn business requirements into working solutions.
- Share knowledge across the team and contribute to how we build.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Recent commercial experience in application or web development, e.g. TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Python, Node or similar.
- Some hands-on data engineering experience, or a clear move into data (professional work, projects or training).
- Good SQL skills, and an interest in data modelling and pipeline design.
- Solid software engineering fundamentals: Git, testing, CI/CD.
- Good communication skills and confidence working with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable
- Exposure to Spark, PySpark or Databricks.
- A Databricks certification, completed or in progress.
- Experience with AWS, Azure or GCP.
- Experience building internal tools, dashboards or data-driven applications.
- Exposure to AI or Generative AI applications.
- Client-facing or consulting experience.
Why Join Unifeye?
- Work exclusively with Databricks technologies, alongside some of the UK’s most experienced Databricks specialists.
- Build real applications, not just pipelines, at the point where software and data meet.
- Close collaboration with Databricks teams.
- Continuous learning, with funded certification and career development.
- High levels of ownership and autonomy from day one.
- Competitive salary, bonus, generous benefits and flexible hybrid working.
If you’re a developer who has fallen for data, or a data engineer who still loves building products, we’d love to hear from you.
