Job Description
The Technical Operations Business Analyst – Commissioning is a field operations, commissioning, business analysis, and continuous improvement role. The position is responsible for actively performing commissioning activities in the field while using operational data, technology, and process-improvement methodologies to improve how Apollo executes commissioning.
The role serves as a bridge between L2/L3 and L4/L5 field commissioning operations, technical operations leadership, and Apollo’s Strategy & Innovation organization. Activities will include but are not limited to testing and/or validation of transformers, electrical switchgear, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) units, Static Transfer Switch (STS) units, Power Distribution Units (PDU), electrical distribution equipment, Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), and Building Management and Automation Systems (BMS).
This role involves supporting data center construction/commissioning activities, so working hours may include nights and/or weekends. This is an onsite, client-facing role that may require approximately 90% or more travel to various client locations.
Key Responsibilities
Field Commissioning – Core Responsibility
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with hyperscale clients, general contractors, trade partners, commissioning agents, and mission-critical stakeholders.
- Serve as a strategic point of contact for client engagement, escalation management, and partnership development.
- Conduct regular client meetings, project reviews, and operational check-ins to ensure alignment, transparency, and satisfaction.
- Collaborate closely with operations and project teams to ensure successful project delivery and exceptional client experience.
- Support client retention initiatives and identify opportunities for additional project scope, retrofits, phased expansions, and long-term partnerships.
Technical Operations & Business Analysis
- Analyze commissioning performance, productivity, quality, resource utilization, and scheduling data.
- Identify operational inefficiencies and develop data-driven solutions.
- Translate field problems into defined business, process, and technology requirements.
- Develop dashboards, KPIs, reports, and analytical tools to improve operational decision-making.
- Analyze L2/L3 and L4/L5 workflows to identify opportunities for standardization, automation, and improved resource utilization.
- Support development and evolution of Magellan Cx, particularly the integration of field execution, scheduling, resource planning, and commissioning data.
Strategic Communication & Brand Representation
- Act as a professional ambassador for the organization in both client-facing and public-facing environments.
- Collaborate with operations, recruiting, safety, and leadership teams to ensure consistent messaging and alignment.
- Support the development of presentations, capability statements, client updates, and engagement materials.
- Gather and communicate client feedback to improve operational execution, service quality, and customer experience.
- Promote transparency, responsiveness, and operational excellence across all engagements.
Process Improvement & Innovation
- Serve as a field implementation resource for Lean, Six Sigma, Kizan, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
- Test new processes and technologies directly in the field before broader Apollo deployment.
- Measure the effectiveness of implemented improvements and develop recommendations for scaling successful solutions.
- Work with Strategy & Innovation to convert field knowledge and operational data into scalable Apollo capabilities.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive commissioning and operational processes.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Act as the connection between field commissioning teams and corporate operations/strategy.
- Work with CxPMs, Cx Leads, Area Managers, Operations, Training, IT, and Strategy & Innovation.
- Capture field knowledge and convert it into training materials, standards, procedures, and technology requirements.
- Help develop future commissioning capabilities by identifying the skills, tools, and processes required to improve execution.
- Support training and development of team members in standardized commissioning processes and new operational technologies.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in data center commissioning, technical operations, construction, electrical/mechanical engineering, or a related business or financial analysis

- Proficiency with common field/project tools such as Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, and Excel-based trackers.
