Enterprise Solutions and Management (ESM) is a rapidly growing government contractor that provides strategic IT services that meet mission needs for Defense and Federal customers. We are hiring an Application Database Administrator to support an enterprise-level program within a federal environment.

Job Description and Responsibilities

Provides database schema administration, including the design, development, maintenance, security, and auditing of database schemas and objects in client/server environments. Plans long-term schema requirements in collaboration with Infrastructure DBAs and ensures databases meet user and system requirements. Advises users on database access, permissions, data protection, validation, and security. Applies database technologies, development methodologies, SQL, and programming skills to support database programming, systems design, and reliable data management.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA)

  • Knowledge of database schema administration, relational database concepts, SQL, data security, access controls, and client/server database environments.
  • Skilled in designing, developing, maintaining, auditing, and securing database schemas and objects while ensuring data integrity and appropriate user access.
  • Ability to analyze user and system requirements, collaborate with Infrastructure DBAs, and develop database solutions that support application and business needs.
  • Knowledge of application database administration, database performance, backup and recovery, monitoring, and database availability practices.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting database issues, optimizing SQL queries and database objects, and supporting application deployments and system integrations.
  • Ability to work with developers, system administrators, and business users to resolve database-related issues, implement changes, and maintain reliable application database environments.

Minimum Training, Education, and Certifications

  • Five (5) years of progressive experience with database query languages and technologies, including Oracle, PL/SQL, SQL Server, and MS Access.
  • At least three (3) years of hands-on experience and expertise in database schema management.
  • Experience working with multiple operating systems and programming languages.
  • Experience supporting at least two projects within a large organization involving the administration, operation, maintenance, and security of large-scale databases.
  • OCA or relevant certification
  • 8570 Baseline IAT Level II

  • Required to stand, walk and sit; communicate verbally both in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Physical demands associated with this position include extensive walking (including stairs) throughout offices and between buildings. May require use of public transportation, personal or Government vehicle to drive to local and/or remote office locations.
