Full description

Big-D Mission Critical has an opportunity for an Assistant Project Manager to join the growing team. The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the successful planning, coordination, and execution of mission-critical data center projects from preconstruction through closeout. Working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, owners, design teams, and trade partners, this role helps manage project schedules, budgets, procurement, contracts, documentation, and commissioning activities while ensuring quality, safety, and project performance objectives are achieved.

This role will be based in Reno, NV.

Key Responsibilites

  • Assist with the management of mission-critical/data center construction projects, including scope, budget, schedule, quality, and client expectations.
  • Support subcontract administration, contract management, procurement, change orders, and buyout activities.
  • Coordinate with project teams, trade partners, consultants, vendors, and owners to maintain project alignment and progress.
  • Track project schedules, critical milestones, long-lead equipment, and material deliveries to support successful project execution.
  • Review and manage RFIs, submittals, drawing updates, meeting minutes, and project documentation.
  • Assist with cost tracking, forecasting, budget reporting, and financial controls throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support commissioning, turnover, and closeout processes, including startup activities, testing, punch list management, and owner acceptance.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide timely communication regarding project status, risks, and action items.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and accountability while ensuring compliance with project requirements and company standards.

Critical Skills

  • Mission-critical or data center construction experience.
  • Understanding of MEP systems and commissioning processes.
  • Project scheduling and construction documentation management.
  • Contract administration and cost control.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
