Senior Project Manager – SAP Infrastructure Transformation / Azure Migration

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager to lead and govern a strategic SAP infrastructure transformation and Microsoft Azure migration program.

The program involves migrating a complex enterprise SAP landscape from an existing data-center environment to Microsoft Azure. An external delivery partner will be responsible for much of the technical implementation, while the Senior Project Manager will act as the primary client-side representative, ensuring strong governance, business alignment, stakeholder coordination, risk management, and successful delivery throughout the program lifecycle.

The assignment operates under a flexible hybrid working model, with an expected on-site presence of approximately three days per week, subject to agreement.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the primary client-side representative throughout the SAP infrastructure migration program.

• Serve as the main interface toward external delivery partners, system integrators, vendors, and key stakeholders.

• Establish and maintain effective program/project governance, reporting, escalation, risk management, and decision-making structures.

• Coordinate SAP, infrastructure, cloud, security, application, business, and operational teams across multiple countries.

• Ensure technical migration activities remain aligned with business objectives, priorities, security requirements, and operational needs.

• Develop and maintain integrated project plans covering milestones, dependencies, resources, budgets, risks, issues, and key deliverables.

• Lead steering committees, management reviews, executive reporting, and key decision forums.

• Manage dependencies between SAP applications, infrastructure, cloud services, security, networks, integrations, and business processes.

• Oversee migration and cutover planning, testing, business readiness, go-live activities, stabilization, and transition to operations.

• Ensure appropriate contingency, rollback, disaster-recovery, and business-continuity planning.

• Drive issue resolution and proactively identify and mitigate risks affecting scope, schedule, cost, quality, or business continuity.

• Ensure compliance with applicable security, operational, governance, and regulatory requirements.

• Ensure effective handover to operations and appropriate documentation and service-readiness activities.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• 10–15+ years of Project/Program Management experience, preferably leading large-scale enterprise IT transformation programs.

• Proven track record managing complex SAP infrastructure, hosting, migration, or modernization programs.

• Strong experience with enterprise SAP environments and technologies such as:

• SAP ECC

• SAP S/4HANA

• SAP BW

• SAP PI/PO

• SAP BTP

• Related SAP infrastructure and integration technologies

• Demonstrated experience leading or overseeing SAP migrations from on-premises/traditional data centers to Microsoft Azure.

• Strong understanding of cloud migration methodologies and infrastructure modernization.

• Knowledge of high availability, disaster recovery, business continuity, cutover, testing, and operational readiness.

• Strong experience managing global system integrators, outsourced service providers, and external technology vendors.

• Proven ability to manage complex project plans, budgets, dependencies, risks, issues, and executive-level reporting.

• Excellent stakeholder management, leadership, communication, negotiation, and escalation-management skills.

• Experience coordinating global and cross-functional teams across business and technology organizations.

• Strong understanding of Agile, Waterfall, and/or hybrid project delivery models.

• Ability to operate effectively in complex, international, and highly regulated enterprise environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Extensive previous experience with Microsoft Azure migration programs involving enterprise-scale SAP landscapes.

• SAP certification and/or Microsoft Azure certification.

• Experience working within large multinational organizations, particularly across the Nordic region.

• Knowledge of ITIL, IT service management, operational transition, and service-readiness processes.

• Experience with major SAP transformation, infrastructure modernization, data-center exit, or cloud-adoption programs.
