Finance – Corporate Finance
Status: (1) Contract Full Time – 6 Months
Salary Range: $94,455 -$118,069 per annum plus comprehensive benefits
Hiring Range: $94,455 - $106,262 per annum plus comprehensive benefits

Who we are:
The Finance Division's mandate is to enable organizational success through financial stewardship and business partnership. Within Business and Financial Planning, the Finance Business Partner team provides strategic financial leadership and advisory services to Regional departments and agencies, including Peel Living.
The Finance Business Partner team supports annual budget preparation, forecasting, financial reporting, variance analysis, long-term financial planning, capital planning, and business decision support. As trusted advisors, Finance Business Partners develop collaborative relationships with operational leaders and help drive financial sustainability, accountability, and service excellence across the organization.
Reporting to the Supervisor, Finance Business Partner, Peel Living, this position provides expert financial guidance and analytical support to help achieve Peel Living's operational, strategic, and capital objectives.
What you will do in this role:
- Coordinate and prepare documentation needed for the annual operating and capital budgets.
- Prepare tri-annual projections and support capital budget planning through forecasting, project monitoring, variance analysis, and reporting to management and senior leadership
- Prepare year-end working papers and financial statements for the annual audit.
- Liaise with external auditor for Peel Living at year end.
- Reserve analysis along with debt monitoring and analysis.
- Provide strategic financial and business practices expertise, consultation, and advisory services to Peel Housing Corporation, that will assist in decision making and resolution on financial, operational, and capital issues.
- Lead analytical work to develop feasibility models for housing.
- Prepare semi-annual and year-end reporting and account reconciliations.
- Conduct research for special projects and interpreting and analyzing information to provide recommendations.
- Prepare Board reports and provide ad-hoc analytical support and guidance to clients to inform on operational decision-making.
What the role requires:
- University degree related to the Finance or Business field with preference being given to those holding or pursuing a professional accounting designation.
- Minimum of 5 years of related work experience in financial analysis, accounting and report writing, preferably in a municipal environment.
- Combination of education and experience may be considered.
Skills/Abilities:
- Experience with municipal infrastructure and/or asset management principles and practices.
- Excellent interpersonal, time management and communication skills (written and oral).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and able to identify and respond quickly to emerging issues.
- Familiarity with social housing programs and services including provincial funding models.
- Knowledge of accounting practices and principles, applicable legislation, regulations, and standards.
- Ability to demonstrate initiative and a “self-starting” attitude to initiate projects and business analysis.
- Strong customer service focus.
- Demonstrated strong organizational skills.
- Proficient computer skills and sound knowledge of computer applications including PeopleSoft, Power BI, Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
