Workster is partnering with an established international organisation to recruit a Principal Cybersecurity Project Manager / PMO Lead for its Sofia-based team. This is a senior opportunity for an experienced cybersecurity programme and project management professional who can lead complex security initiatives, establish effective governance, and drive delivery across multiple stakeholders.
The role will focus on overseeing the cybersecurity project portfolio, strengthening PMO practices, and ensuring that strategic security programmes are delivered on time, within scope, and in line with business and regulatory requirements.
Your Role
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex cybersecurity programmes and projects
- Establish and maintain effective cybersecurity PMO governance, methodologies, standards, and reporting frameworks
- Manage the cybersecurity project portfolio, including prioritisation, dependencies, resources, risks, and delivery timelines
- Define project scope, objectives, milestones, deliverables, budgets, and success criteria
- Coordinate cross-functional teams across cybersecurity, information technology, risk, compliance, legal, procurement, and business operations
- Engage with senior stakeholders and provide clear, accurate, and timely programme reporting
- Monitor project performance, identify delivery risks and issues, and implement appropriate mitigation and escalation plans
- Ensure cybersecurity initiatives are aligned with organisational strategy, security objectives, and regulatory requirements
- Support the development and continuous improvement of project management processes, controls, templates, and documentation
- Oversee third-party suppliers, consultants, and technology partners involved in cybersecurity projects
- Track budgets, resource capacity, benefits realisation, and overall portfolio performance
- Facilitate steering committees, project reviews, workshops, and governance meetings
- Promote consistent delivery practices, accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement across the cybersecurity function
- Prepare executive-level presentations, dashboards, status reports, and project documentation
Your Qualifications
- Significant experience in cybersecurity project, programme, portfolio, or PMO management
- Proven experience leading complex, cross-functional cybersecurity or information technology initiatives
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, risk management, governance, controls, and regulatory requirements
- Experience establishing or leading a PMO within a cybersecurity or technology environment
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, priorities, dependencies, and stakeholders
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, governance models, delivery frameworks, and reporting practices
- Experience managing project budgets, resources, suppliers, risks, issues, and benefits
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including experience working with senior leadership
- Strong analytical, organisational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to translate complex cybersecurity topics into clear business language
- Experience with project management and collaboration tools
- Relevant certification such as PMP, PRINCE2, MSP, PMI, CISM, CISSP, or equivalent is an advantage
- University degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Business, or a related field is an advantage
- Fluency in English, with strong written and spoken communication skills
- Based in or willing to work from Sofia, Bulgaria
