Summary

Provide system and content-based education, analysis, reporting and hospital Patient Access/Patient Accounts expertise to support all facility PFS roles and facility departments. Responsible for operations specific training, such as scheduling, pre-registration, registration, billing, follow-up, and compliance within Patient Financial Services. Responsible for development, design, administration, and management of training materials included in the Training Delivery- Operational function. Will focus primarily on the effective delivery of front-end revenue cycle process training.

Major Job Functions

  • Demonstrates systematic knowledge of patient management in correlation to patient access, patient accounts, HIM and information systems
  • Conduct appropriate preparation to ensure full understanding of training content and objectives prior to delivery
  • Coordinates and provides appropriate training of new employees and re-training for current employees
  • Demonstrates appropriate teaching method, style, and pace to optimize learning, adopting different delivery approaches/mechanisms as needed
  • Select or develops testing and evaluation procedures to use at completion of training; tests trainees to measure progress and to evaluate effectiveness of training
  • Oversees competency assessment and skill checklist
  • Collaborates with managers and supervisors in determining the continuing education and professional growth needs of employees
  • Participates in development of employee performance capabilities and provide input into the performance management process
  • Design and develop training materials to be used by training personnel
  • Review payer websites to provide updates to management and staff
  • Comply with all required policies, regulations and procedure applicable to the learning process
  • Participate on special projects as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:

Education and Formal Training:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Associate degree preferred

Work Experience:

  • 2 years of Revenue Cycle experience, Healthcare Industry, specifically revenue cycle operations required
  • Experience supporting scheduling, pre-registration, registration, claims, insurance and/or medical billing organizations. Experience delivering trainings, facilitating meetings, or public speaking

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of compliance needs related to HIPAA privacy rules, CMS claim submission rules, JCAHO and other standard regulatory guidelines for hospital billing
  • Ability to identify the developmental needs of others and coaching, mentoring, or otherwise helping others to improve their knowledge skills
  • Comfortable delivering presentations to multiple levels of employees and leadership
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Outlook
