The Project Manager is responsible for delivering customer projects from technical definition to commissioning.
The role owns the technical solution, project schedule, cost control, and coordination of engineering activities to ensure successful project execution and customer satisfaction.
Through the effective deployment of installed equipment, the position supports the growth of refractory business.
Key responsibilities
· Own the successful delivery of customer projects from solution definition through commissioning, ensuring technical performance and customer expectations are met.
· Define, validate, and implement the most appropriate flow control systems, refractory solutions, and related equipment to achieve the required operational performance.
· Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring milestones and contractual commitments are achieved on time.
· Control project costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs while maintaining quality and performance.
· Lead and coordinate cross-functional project resources, including global engineering teams, supply chain, operations, and customers.
· Manage project scope and evaluate change requests, ensuring their impact on cost, schedule, and technical performance is properly assessed and controlled.
· Coordinate factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), commissioning activities, and customer handover to ensure successful project completion.
· Identify, assess, and communicate project risks and issues, implementing mitigation and corrective actions as required.
· Maintain full visibility and control of project execution, providing accurate reporting on progress, risks, costs, and key deliverables.
· Promote quality, safety, and operational excellence throughout all project activities.
· Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management processes, tools, and best practices.

Qualifications & Experience
· Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, electromechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field.
· Minimum 5 years of experience in project management within an industrial or engineering environment.
· Knowledge of project planning, scheduling, and budgeting principles.
· Experience with commissioning, start-up, FAT/SAT, and customer-facing execution of industrial projects.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, MS Project, and ERP systems.
· Professional proficiency in English, additional languages are an asset.
· Experience in steelmaking, refractory applications, flow control systems, or heavy industry is considered a strong advantage.
Working Conditions
· Based in Ghlin, Belgium.
· Occasional international travel to customer sites and suppliers for project milestones, FAT, SAT, commissioning, and technical reviews (typically 2-3 weeks every 3 months).
· Full-time position (38-hour work week).
· Position requiring regular on-site presence in Ghlin to support project coordination and team collaboration.
