Responsibilities

About the role

We’re looking for a Product Design Lead.

This is a hands-on role. You’ll lead a team of senior product designers, but you’ll also spend a significant part of your time doing design work yourself.

You’ll work on complex product problems, help the team find simple solutions, and keep the quality of our design high.

AI is becoming an important part of how we work at Tango. You’ll help us figure out where it can improve the design process, build new workflows around it, and lead this change within the team.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys both sides of the job: designing products and leading people.

What you’ll do

• Lead a team of senior product designers and help them grow.
• Work hands-on on complex product problems.
• Keep a high bar for product thinking and design quality.
• Work closely with Product, Engineering, and business teams.
• Balance user needs, business goals, and technical constraints.
• Take ideas from early exploration to shipped features and track how they perform.
• Move projects forward when there is no obvious answer or clear path.
• Improve how the design team works.
• Find practical ways to use AI throughout the design process.
• Build and test new AI workflows with the team.
• Present your work, get stakeholders on board, and deal with different opinions when needed.

Requirements

• 8+ years in product design. You’re still a strong hands-on designer and comfortable solving difficult product problems yourself.
• 3+ years leading design teams. You’ve managed at least 3 designers and have experience managing senior people.
• Strong product design skills. Your portfolio shows real problems you’ve solved for users and the business, and the quality of the final solution.
• Experience developing designers. You can give examples of people you helped grow and changes you made that improved how your team works.
• Hands-on experience with AI. You use AI regularly in your work, experiment with different tools, and build your own workflows when existing ones are not enough. You should be able to show how this has made you or your team more effective.
• Strong communication skills. You can explain your thinking, work with stakeholders from different areas, get people aligned, and handle difficult feedback.
• You’re comfortable with uncertainty. When there is no clear answer, you can find a reasonable next step and start moving.
• You take ownership. You care about what happens after the design is done and stay involved until you see the result.
• Fluent English. We use English every day.

Nice to have

• Experience with B2C social, entertainment, or communication products.
• UX writing or copywriting skills.
• Experience working in a fast-moving startup.
