Full description

Neo Security is hiring a Federal Sales Engineer to be the technical partner to our federal sales team, based in the Washington, D.C. metro area. You'll support the full federal sales cycle — technical discovery, demos, proofs of concept, and security/compliance evaluations — for civilian agencies, defense, and intelligence community customers and partners. You'll also serve as the technical bridge between the field and our product, compliance, and engineering teams, ensuring Neo Security meets the specific technical and authorization requirements of the federal market.

This role suits a technically strong Sales/Solutions Engineer who understands how federal buyers evaluate and procure security software, is comfortable navigating agency-specific requirements (FedRAMP, StateRAMP, ATO processes), and can translate those requirements into clear guidance for both the sales team and the customer.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with Federal Sales Representatives and channel/reseller partners on technical discovery, demos, and evaluations across civilian, defense, and intelligence community accounts.
  • Design, scope, and run proofs of concept and technical evaluations tailored to federal agency environments, including on-premises, air-gapped, or GovCloud deployments as required.
  • Support responses to federal RFPs/RFIs, security questionnaires, and Authority to Operate (ATO) documentation requests.
  • Serve as a technical resource on FedRAMP, StateRAMP, and other federal compliance frameworks relevant to Neo Security's product.
  • Build and maintain federal-specific demo environments, technical collateral, and compliance documentation to support the sales team.
  • Act as the voice of the federal customer internally, feeding agency-specific technical and compliance requirements back to Product, Engineering, and Compliance teams.
  • Support partners and systems integrators working alongside Neo Security on federal opportunities with technical enablement and joint solution design.
  • Represent Neo Security at federal-focused industry events, briefings, and conferences in the D.C. area.
  • Support post-sale technical handoff to Customer Success/Implementation teams for federal accounts.
  • Stay current on the federal security compliance landscape (FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST 800-53, CMMC) and how it affects Neo Security's product and go-to-market.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Engineer, or Solutions Architect, including experience supporting federal government sales cycles.
  • Working knowledge of federal compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST 800-53, or CMMC.
  • Experience supporting RFP/RFI responses and ATO documentation requests for federal customers.
  • Proven ability to run technical demos and proofs of concept tailored to federal agency environments, including familiarity with GovCloud or on-premises/air-gapped deployment models.
  • Comfortable engaging with both technical practitioners and program/contracting stakeholders within federal agencies.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical and compliance topics clearly.
  • U.S. citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance may be required depending on account assignment.
  • Based in or able to work from the Washington, D.C. metro area, with the ability to work a hybrid schedule and travel as needed for agency and partner meetings.

Nice to Haves

  • Existing active federal security clearance (Public Trust, Secret, or Top Secret).
  • Prior experience working for or directly with a federal agency, systems integrator, or defense contractor.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, Security+) valued in federal technical evaluations.
  • Experience supporting FedRAMP authorization processes (e.g., as part of a 3PAO engagement or internal authorization team).
  • Familiarity with federal procurement vehicles (GSA Schedule, SEWP, CIO-SP3) and how they affect the sales and technical evaluation process.
  • Experience at an early-stage or high-growth company building out a federal go-to-market motion from the ground up.
