General Summary:
Role Summary
The Staff Cybersecurity Engineer is a senior individual contributor responsible for designing, building, and improving security capabilities across the company’s technology environment. This role combines hands-on technical execution with cross-functional leadership, helping engineering, IT, cloud, product, and security teams identify risk, implement durable controls, and improve the organization’s overall security posture.
The role operates with a high degree of independence, taking ownership of security outcomes and making decisions that impact systems, projects, and operational effectiveness. The engineer is expected to apply strong adversarial thinking, reason through ambiguous problems, and deliver scalable solutions across enterprise and cloud environments.
The ideal candidate has broad cybersecurity engineering experience, depth in one or more major domains, and the ability to lead complex security initiatives without requiring direct management authority.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of security controls across applications, cloud infrastructure, identity systems, networks, endpoints, and enterprise platforms.
- Own and evolve core cybersecurity platforms, including integration, automation, and lifecycle management of security tooling and services.
- Develop and automate security tooling, detection logic, workflows, and validation processes.
- Build cohesive security capabilities by integrating systems, telemetry, and controls.
- Support incident response and investigations with technical analysis and remediation guidance.
- Identify vulnerabilities and drive remediation strategies.
- Define and improve secure engineering standards, architectures, and guardrails.
- Improve observability through logging, detection engineering, and monitoring.
- Apply threat modeling and adversarial thinking to strengthen defenses.
- Lead technical discussions and mentor engineers.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of hands-on cybersecurity engineering experience.
- Experience leading complex security initiatives as a senior individual contributor.
- Expertise in multiple security domains such as cloud, IAM, or detection engineering.
- Strong knowledge of AWS, Azure, and GCP environments.
- Experience securing production systems and modern architectures.
- Ability to write scripts or code for automation (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
- Experience with threat modeling, vulnerability management, and incident response.
- Strong communication and ability to operate independently.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of cybersecurity-relevant work experience.
OR High school diploma or equivalent and 5+ years of cybersecurity-relevant work experience.
