Analyst II - Business Systems Analyst II | 100% Remote (WFH) Opportunity
General Summary
At EMPLOYERS, technology isn't just IT overhead — it's how we get injured workers back on their feet faster and help businesses stay protected. As an Analyst II on our Digital & Data (D&D) team, you'll help turn business needs into the requirements, specifications, and tested solutions that keep that mission moving — using AI to work faster while you own the accuracy, judgment, and outcomes that matter.
You'll partner with product, business, and technical teams to shape requirements, lead UAT for releases, and support QA — using AI tools to accelerate drafting, modeling, and test creation while you validate what they produce. This role is built for someone who's curious about how AI changes work, disciplined about verifying it, and comfortable owning outcomes even when AI did some of the heavy lifting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Business Responsibilities
- Analyzes current-state (as-is) business processes and workflows and helps design future-state (to-be) improvements to support business objectives.
- Partners with Product Managers and Business SMEs to perform cost-benefit and ROI analyses, including evaluating the potential impact of automation and AI adoption.
- Develops and fosters strategic relationships and establishes key organizational partnerships, communicating effectively across leadership, business stakeholders, vendors, and sourcing suppliers.
Technical Responsibilities
- Collaborates with product, business, and technical teams to document and analyze business requirements that inform system specifications, including user stories, use cases, functional/non-functional requirements, and acceptance criteria.
- Maps system interdependencies and facilitates cross-team communication to ensure alignment on technical requirements.
- Works with the QA team to build and leverage automation to decrease overall system deployment and support cycle time, including translating user stories into QA test scripts.
- Leads the UAT effort for each release — defining scope, building test cases, reviewing with business stakeholders, demoing functionality as needed, holding check-in meetings to monitor progress, and assisting with defect resolution.
- Supports change management efforts, including end-user training, documentation, and communication during new system or process rollouts.
AI Collaboration Responsibilities
- Uses AI tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot, and Rovo) in daily work — breaking down epics, drafting user stories, and generating test scripts — to improve efficiency and quality.
- Validates the accuracy and appropriateness of AI-generated outputs before they reach stakeholders or are used in specifications, test cases, or analysis.
- Applies judgment on when AI-assisted output is sufficient versus when a task requires deeper independent analysis, escalating ambiguous or high-stakes situations to senior staff.
- Identifies and shares practical AI use cases with the team, contributing to broader adoption of AI-driven best practices.
Governance & Risk
- Follows established data privacy, security, and responsible-AI usage guidelines when working with AI tools, particularly when handling sensitive or regulated information.
- Determines compliance within existing policies and procedures, escalating potential gaps or concerns to senior staff or supervisor.
- Partners with QA and technical staff to identify and flag risks or quality concerns surfaced during testing before release.
Continuous Improvement
- Stays current on new AI capabilities and tools relevant to business analysis work, sharing learnings with the team.
- Looks for opportunities to streamline requirements, testing, and documentation processes, recommending improvements to senior staff.
- Builds and maintains dashboards to track QA and UAT progress, using data to inform process improvements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 3–8 years of relevant experience in business/systems analysis or a related technology role.
- Insurance industry experience preferred.
- 3+ years of claims lifecycle knowledge (e.g., FNOL, adjudication, subrogation, litigation, settlement) strongly preferred.
- 3+ years of experience with claims management systems and integrated systems (e.g. ClaimsPro, Inspire, or similar) strongly preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Technical Skills
- Experience selecting, implementing, and activating organizational software development tracking tools.
- High-level proficiency with MS Office, JIRA, and Confluence, including the ability to navigate JIRA to run Scrum ceremonies when needed.
- Ability to build and maintain dashboards to track QA and UAT progress.
AI Skills
- Practical experience using AI tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot, and Rovo) to support business analysis activities, such as breaking down epics, developing user stories, and automating test script creation.
- Working knowledge of AI output validation and quality assurance practices.
- Basic understanding of responsible AI use, including data privacy and security considerations when using AI tools with company or customer information.
Business and Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify areas of concern, and troubleshoot issues quickly.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across all levels of the organization, including leadership, business stakeholders, and vendors.
- Ability to clearly explain AI-assisted work and reasoning to stakeholders, building trust in both the process and the output.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or Certification of Capability in Business Analysis (CCBA).
- Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or similar Agile/Scrum certification.
