Appian Platform Administrator / IT Project Manager
Position: Appian Platform Administrator / IT Project Manager Employment Type: Full-Time / Contract Location: Remote / Hybrid as required Clearance: U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain Public Trust preferred
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Appian Platform Administrator / IT Project Manager to support a federal Department of Education Appian environment. This position combines Appian platform administration, user and license management, and IT project management responsibilities.
The successful candidate will serve as a key point of contact between the customer, Appian, software/reseller partners, and the technical delivery team. The individual should have hands-on experience managing Appian users, roles, security, licenses, environments, and administration, along with strong IT project management experience.
Key Responsibilities
Appian Platform & User Management
- Administer Appian users, groups, roles, permissions, and access.
- Manage user onboarding, modifications, and offboarding.
- Support Appian security and access-control requirements.
- Monitor and manage Appian user accounts and platform access.
- Support Appian Cloud and on-premises/Data Center environments.
- Troubleshoot user access and platform administration issues.
- Maintain Appian administration procedures and documentation.
Appian License Management
- Manage Appian licenses, assignments, utilization, and availability.
- Track license usage and identify unused or underutilized licenses.
- Support Appian license renewals and procurement activities.
- Coordinate with Appian and authorized resellers regarding licensing questions and renewals.
- Maintain accurate license and user-management records.
- Provide license utilization reports to government stakeholders and project leadership.
IT Project Management
- Manage project schedules, milestones, deliverables, and dependencies.
- Coordinate activities among government stakeholders, technical teams, Appian, and vendors.
- Lead project status meetings and prepare status reports.
- Track risks, issues, decisions, and action items.
- Coordinate technical resources and prioritize project activities.
- Support project planning, transition, implementation, and operational activities.
- Communicate project status and key issues to government leadership.
Customer & Stakeholder Support
- Serve as a primary point of contact for Appian administration and user-management activities.
- Work directly with federal customer stakeholders.
- Coordinate requirements and resolve operational issues.
- Prepare presentations, reports, meeting notes, and project documentation.
- Ensure timely communication and follow-up on customer requests.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of IT project management experience.
- 3+ years of Appian experience preferred.
- Hands-on experience with Appian administration, user management, roles, groups, and security.
- Experience with Appian license management and utilization.
- Experience working with Appian Cloud and/or Data Center environments.
- Strong understanding of enterprise application administration.
- Experience managing project schedules, risks, issues, and deliverables.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with federal customers and technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Appian certification(s).
- Experience supporting U.S. federal government customers.
- Experience with Public Trust environments.
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Experience with Microsoft Entra ID/Azure AD, SSO, and enterprise identity management.
- Experience coordinating software licensing and renewals.
- PMP or equivalent project management certification.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is someone who can wear both hats: an experienced IT Project Manager who is also comfortable getting hands-on with Appian user administration, security, and license management.
This is not strictly a project-management position and not strictly a system-administration position. The individual should be able to coordinate with senior stakeholders while also handling day-to-day Appian platform and user-management activities.
