POSITION PURPOSE:

The Project Manager II works within the Center for Biomedical Informatics to manage projects funded by clients or granting agencies. The Project Manager II is also responsible for managing the client or agency relationship and ensuring their satisfaction with the project

This position is a hybrid position with at least (1) day of onsite activity based on business needs.

Although this teams opening is designed for a Project Manager candidate, applicants with more or less research experience maybe considered for alternative roles.

PRIMARY ROLE/ ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Tracks bugs, errors, enhancements, and corrections

• Manages client relationships and client satisfaction

• Represents PI’s/staff management in meetings and makes decisions on project issues in coordination with project principals.

• Monitors and manages requirements scope in coordination with project principals and clients

• Assists project investigators and/or clients in starting up and carrying out research projects

• Maintains written records to ensure accuracy in carrying out protocols

• Prepares documentation/information to order equipment and supplies as needs arise

• Meets and manages all responsibilities in a timely manner

• Conducts meetings, including organizing and leading meetings, producing agendas, writing and distributing minutes, and maintaining written records for all

• Responds to external queries about projects from interested third parties

• Works directly with clients or granting agencies to manage the technology or other project components

• Designs, plans, coordinates, and manages the work of team members

• Provides technical support to team members

• Manages large-scale grant projects, sometimes multiple

SCOPE AND IMPACT

• Assists project principals in identification and resolution of issues related to security and privacy regulations such as HIPAA.

• Interacts with the administration to ensure compliance for all university/federal/Institute regulations, coordinating related education and certification opportunities

• Gathers and analyzes business requirements

• Works with project principals in making decisions on project issues

• Makes high-level implementation/operational decisions on projects

• Works with the grant coordinator to prepare and monitor budgets and create budget reports to ensure goals are achieved.

• Seeks feedback from others as necessary to ensure decisions do not conflict with business needs

• Writes technology user guides, training materials, and other descriptive works

• Designs, develops, and coordinates the implementation of project work plans and timelines

• Designs, develops, and implements test plans for technology

• Uses creative thinking to determine goals and develop and improve processes

• Prepares and maintains IRB submissions and acts as a point of contact for IRB information and guidance for investigators and other staff as applicable

• Prepares and presents progress reports to clients, granting agencies, or other persons

• Assists in writing grant applications

• Prepares research proposals, presentations, abstracts, lectures, posters, and manuscripts

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience

• Master’s degree and/or advanced information technology certifications are preferred

• Five years of related project management/project coordination experience is required to include at least 3 years of direct project management experience.

• PMP or related project management certification preferred

LANGUAGE SKILLS

• Ability to interact and verbally communicate with groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public

• Ability to write reports and operational correspondence

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations

REASONING ABILITY

• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

• Ability to think logically in order to troubleshoot, analyze situations, and make sound decisions
