Full description
The Data Platform Engineer IV will join the Product and Services team as a senior, hands-on engineer, building cloud-based data platforms that support federal scientific and environmental programs in a remote work environment. This is not a generic data engineering role. You will design ingestion and processing pipelines, storage, integrations, APIs, and automation for scientific, geospatial, and Earth observation data, working with the large, complex, and often messy datasets that researchers and program teams depend on.
Working closely with the Senior Architect, this role translates solution designs into scalable, production-ready capabilities, writing production code and taking work from design through deployment. The ideal candidate brings hands-on expertise in cloud data platforms, pipeline development, and automation, along with real experience handling scientific data. You understand how these datasets are structured, how they are produced and versioned, and why provenance, quality, and reproducibility matter.
Success in this role means delivering production-grade platform capabilities that faithfully realize the architect's designs, run reliably with minimal intervention, and earn the trust of architects, data teams, scientists, and stakeholders.
