Bruker Japan is seeking a motivated and technically strong Sales Engineer to support and grow our NIR and Process Analytical Technology (PAT) business within the Optics Division.

This role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of advanced spectroscopy, industry applications, and customer partnership, supporting Japanese customers in improving product quality, process efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

As part of a global technology leader with a strong long-term presence in Japan, you will collaborate closely with customers, distributors, and Bruker’s international teams, contributing directly to innovation-driven solutions across industries such as chemical, petrochemical, polymers, pharmaceuticals, and agri-food.

Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

· Sales and application support for NIR, IR, Raman and Process Analytical (PAT) product lines of the Optics Division, Bruker Japan

· Manage the full sales cycle: lead generation, opportunity qualification, application evaluation, quotation preparation, contract negotiation, and order closure

· Actively develop new business opportunities and expand installed base through existing and new customers

· Evaluate customer analytical and process needs and propose value-driven spectroscopy solutions

Application & Technical Support

· Provide pre-sales technical consulting, including feasibility evaluation, sampling strategy discussion, and system configuration

· Support and coordinate demonstrations, proof-of-concept trials, and feasibility studies, including documentation and reporting

· Collaborate with application specialists and HQ to address complex applied spectroscopy challenges

· Support customer training at installation and on demand, ensuring successful adoption and long-term satisfaction

Project & Process Coordination

· Coordinate system delivery, installation, and commissioning with customers, service teams, and internal stakeholders

· Drive NOB (New Order Booking) coordination from purchase order to installation scheduling to enable fast revenue recognition

· Ensure compliance with Bruker business processes, documentation standards, and ethical sales practices

Market & Partner Engagement

· Actively monitor market trends, competitor activities, and emerging applications in process analytics and applied spectroscopy

· Support customer-facing events such as exhibitions, seminars, workshops, and technical presentations

· Work closely with distributor and partner networks to maximize regional coverage and effectiveness

Organizational & Communication

· Report directly to the Country Manager, Optics Division, Bruker Japan

· Maintain regular communication with global HQ and regional teams in English

· Operate effectively in a fast-paced, target-driven, and high-pressure sales environment

· Willingness to travel extensively (approximately 50% of working time)

Qualifications

Education & Technical Background

  • Sales education:
  • Understanding of Analytical Chemistry, preferably NIR, FTIR, Raman, or Process Analytical Technology (PAT)

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 5–6 years of experience in technical sales, application support, or business development within:
  • Analytical instrumentation, spectroscopy, process analytics, or related scientific industries
  • Proven experience managing complex, solution-based sales processes
  • Experience working with industrial customers (chemical, pharmaceutical, food, polymers, or similar) is strongly preferred

  • Strong ability to translate technical concepts into customer value
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to structure complex application scenarios
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and comfortable working independently while being a strong team player
  • Professional presence and ability to build long-term, trust-based customer relationships

Language & Communication

  • Native or fluent Japanese (spoken and written) – mandatory
  • Business-level English (spoken and written) for communication with HQ and global teams

Other Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Process Engineering, Agri-Food, Petrochemistry, or a related field would be a plus
  • High level of personal organization and time management
  • Willingness to travel frequently within Japan
  • Valid driver’s license in Japan
