Job Description

We’re looking for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join us on a contract basis in New York, working on a client engagement focused on building, improving and supporting scalable cloud infrastructure.

If you’re an experienced DevOps engineer who enjoys solving difficult infrastructure problems, automating everything you can and working closely with development teams, we want to hear from you.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior DevOps Engineer at Data Intellect, you’ll work within a highly technical environment where reliability, scalability and performance matter. You’ll:

• Build, improve and extend AWS infrastructure supporting production applications and services.
• Implement and manage Kubernetes environments and create and upgrade Helm charts.
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines, automating build, testing and deployment processes.
• Use Infrastructure as Code, including Terraform and Ansible, to create consistent and repeatable environments.
• Improve monitoring and logging, helping teams identify issues and optimise application and infrastructure performance.
• Automate infrastructure and operational processes using Bash and Python.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, networking, database and production issues.
• Work closely with software engineers to improve development and deployment processes.
• Help design scalable architecture for large customer environments.
• Identify opportunities to improve performance, reliability, security and cloud cost efficiency.
• Support incident management, root-cause analysis, disaster recovery and continuous improvement.

 

Qualifications

What You Bring

• 5+ years' DevOps / infrastructure engineering experience in production environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS.
• Excellent knowledge of Linux administration.
• Strong experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform and Ansible.
• Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines; GitLab CI/CD experience is particularly useful.
• Strong scripting skills using Bash and/or Python.
• Good understanding of cloud networking, routing and troubleshooting.
• Experience working with web services such as NGINX, Apache and Tomcat.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose complex production issues.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.

Bonus Points For

• Experience with Helm and managing Kubernetes deployments at scale.
• Experience with logging and monitoring platforms.
• Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Experience implementing DevSecOps practices.
• Cloud cost optimisation and performance engineering experience.
• Experience designing infrastructure for PaaS or enterprise customer environments.
• Previous experience within financial services or capital markets.
