Product Manager - AI Services
Location: Prague (Hybrid); Czech Republic (Remote); UK (Remote); Ghent (Hybrid)
Function: Product Management
Reports to: Director, Packaging Intelligence
About the role
As Product Manager for AI Services, you will own the product lifecycle for a shared foundation of AI capabilities that Esko's internal teams build on rather than re-invent - enabling them to solve customer problems that were previously out of reach with optimal speed and efficiency.
Cross-functional collaboration sits at the core of the role. You will coach internal teams, consolidate their needs to find common ground, work with technical and design stakeholders to agree the best approach, and document clear, testable requirements that are reviewed and approved before development begins. The result is a coherent, prioritized backlog and roadmap that reflects the combined needs of Esko's product teams and aligns with company strategy and AI transformation objectives.
You will keep stakeholders updated as work progresses, then support them through acceptance testing, triage and implement change requests, and drive adoption of the services in production. Ongoing success management is central: keeping services aligned with evolving team and customer needs while maintaining a generalized approach and backwards compatibility, and growing capabilities in line with advances in technology and market expectations. You will track adoption and key performance metrics to demonstrate impact and identify where more focus is needed.
As a key member of the Esko AI team, you will also help shape the strategic vision for Esko's AI initiatives through brainstorming, thought leadership, customer discussions and events.
What you will do
- Own and prioritize the product backlog for AI Services – a shared collection of common AI capabilities leveraged by Esko product and engineering teams.
- Proactively gather needs from cross-functional product teams and turn them into clear, well-scoped requirements for the Esko AI engineering teams.
- Act as a bridge between Esko AI and other cross-functional teams - product, engineering, and commercial – to ensure their success in building AI-powered capabilities that deliver on the intended customer value.
- Help other teams to bootstrap their own AI initiatives on top of the shared capabilities: clarifying what already exists, what needs to be built, and how to get started.
- Weigh competing requests from multiple stakeholders against the long-term company strategy and priorities, while documenting risks and expected trade-offs.
- Define and maintain adoption / success metrics for the shared capabilities - and use them to continually re-prioritize the backlog and indicate risks and areas of additional focus.
- Communicate roadmap, priorities, and trade-offs clearly across engineering, product, and leadership stakeholders.
What we are looking for
- At least 5 years’ experience in a Software Product Management role, preferably including ownership of a platform, API or other shared-services product used across multiple internal teams.
- Undergraduate or master’s degree in computer science or related discipline.
- Native or fluent proficiency in English.
- Experience initiating, deploying, and scaling AI-powered capabilities in production, with a track record of managing the development cycle from proof-of-concepts or early-stage ideas into production capabilities that other teams depend on.
- Experience acting as a liaison in a large, global organization with multiple cross-functional teams - gathering and distilling requirements from varied stakeholders, aligning competing priorities, and driving toward a successful shared outcome.
- Strong product management fundamentals: backlog ownership and refinement, roadmap creation & communication, and the ability to write clear, unambiguous requirements for engineering to build and test against.
- Comfort operating at the boundary between a platform team and the product teams that consume it, balancing shared needs and central objectives against individual team priorities and timelines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to work fluently with both technical and business stakeholders alike.
Preferred experience
- Experience in packaging graphics or the wider graphic arts industry is strongly preferred.
What success looks like
- Teams across the business ship AI-powered capabilities that solve valuable customer problems by leveraging a shared foundation of AI Services, rather than “re-inventing the wheel”.
- Ideas and concepts forged by different teams are assessed for potential development as centralized AI services.
- A roadmap for AI Services is maintained and accurately describes the status of current and plans for future objectives.
- The Esko AI engineering teams work from a clearly prioritized backlog.
- Cross-functional teams know exactly who to talk to when they want to bootstrap an AI initiative; and that person offers guidance on opportunities, prioritization and planning.
- AI services are clearly explained and documented, with measures taken to minimize any roadblocks or barriers to successful adoption.
- AI Services grows as a coherent whole rather than fragmenting into one-off, team-specific solutions.
- A class-leading set of capabilities provide a powerful base for Esko cross-functional teams to transform the value of our software using cutting-edge AI technologies.
