Job Title:

Unified Communications Solutions Architect / Automation Engineer

 

Location:

On-site, Camp Springs, MD.

 

Employment Type:

Full-Time.

 

Description

The Unified Communications (UC) Solutions Architect / Automation Engineer will serve as a Tier 3 technical expert responsible for the architecture, implementation, integration, automation, and continuous improvement of Enterprise Unified Communications services supporting a U.S. Government Agency.

 

This position requires deep UC expertise combined with strong hands-on experience in PowerShell, Microsoft Power Platform, and enterprise automation. The successful candidate will design and implement UC solutions while identifying opportunities to automate operational processes, improve reliability, and increase efficiency across the enterprise.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, design, implementation, integration, and operation of Enterprise UC technologies and services.
  • Design highly available, reliable, and maintainable UC architectures supporting mission-critical services.
  • Provide Tier 3 expertise for complex UC troubleshooting, fault isolation, and performance management.
  • Lead integration and interoperability between UC technologies and other enterprise platforms.
  • Design and develop PowerShell automation for UC, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365, Entra ID/Active Directory, reporting, provisioning, monitoring, and administration.
  • Develop solutions using Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI, and Dataverse.
  • Identify manual or repetitive processes and develop automated workflows to improve efficiency, reliability, and consistency.
  • Develop integrations using REST APIs, Microsoft Graph API, JSON, and other programmatic interfaces.
  • Build automated monitoring, reporting, alerting, and remediation capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain architecture diagrams, technical documentation, implementation plans, standards, and operating procedures.
  • Provide technical guidance, training, briefings, and presentations to customers and technical teams.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field with 12 years of related experience, or Master's degree with 10 years of related experience.
  • 5+ years leading UC technology initiatives in large enterprise environments.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Cisco CUCM, CMS, TMS, Expressway, Webex, Microsoft Teams, Cisco Emergency Responder, Unity Connection, IM&P, and UCCE.
  • Experience with enterprise UC technologies including Cisco, Polycom, Avaya, and vBrick.
  • Skillset equivalent to Cisco CCNP Collaboration, with emphasis on architecture, design, and planning.
  • Expert understanding of UC across switching, routing, firewalls, cloud infrastructure, MPLS, QoS, SIP, and WAN technologies.
  • 5+ years of hands-on PowerShell development and automation experience, including scripting, APIs, error handling, logging, and enterprise administration.
  • 3+ years of hands-on Microsoft Power Platform experience, including Power Automate and Power Apps.
  • Experience automating Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365, Entra ID/Active Directory, and/or UC environments.
  • Strong experience with REST APIs, Microsoft Graph API, JSON, OAuth, SAML, and enterprise system integrations.
  • Experience with ITIL, Agile/DevOps, and ServiceNow environments.
  • Familiarity with NIST SP 800-53 and 800-63 and enterprise security fundamentals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, customers, and leadership.

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • CCIE or CCNP Collaboration certification.
  • Current U.S. Government Public Trust suitability.
  • Previous experience supporting U.S. Government agencies or enterprise Federal environments.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and reside within the United States of America.
  • This is an on-site position, candidate must be available to work on-site at the Camp Springs, MD facility.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required U.S. Government Public Trust suitability and Entry on Duty authorization.
